The inclusions look fairly visible and dark. Could this be a technique issue of taking the picture?

I''m not sure.... they do look very very visible and some dark. I would probably try to look for another diamond without dark inclusions that are visible.

Yes. The diffused-light setup makes characteristics more visible. There is no way to know whether inclusions are eye-visible or not from a photo. You need to speak to someone with the diamond in-hand. Be sure to clarify precisely what your definition of clean is in any conversation.

Keep in mind, also, the extreme magnification of the shots internet sellers provide. You would have to shrink that photo down to the size of a pencil eraser to even get it even close to the realistic spread of a 1ct diamond. And at that (again), just no way to know for certain from the photo.

Thritto. Ask them to look at it, and give you their opinion.

Here is the IS on this one. per the gemologist "The diamond is completely eye-clean. Now, that being said, there are what almost looks like dust particles on the side near the girdle and those can be seen if you know exactly where to look an concentrate for a long period of time " They say it can be pronged. The image looks a little tilted as well. I need to make a decision by 5pm so any input appreciated.

The IS looks great. If they can prong the visables, this might be the one for you.

This may be a dumb question, but can you actually look at the IS picture and tell which inclusions may be visible?

No, or it isn't advisable. If you imagine a 1 carat diamond is actually about the size of a pencil eraser, any images on a computer can be misleading. The only way to tell if any inclusions are visible to the eye is to discuss this with a vendor who has the diamond in hand.
