Wondering if anyone can help. I have an old appraisal for a diamond dated 5/1981. It reads:

Ladies solitaire diamond ring set in a 18 Kt. yellow gold mounting. The "Radiant" cut diamond wieghs 52/100 of a carat, with a quality of #2 color and #2 clarity per G D C Grading. This is a FINE quality diamond.

Can someone tell me how this "G D C Grading" compares to the current diamond grading standard? Or should I take the stone somewhere to get it certified/graded?

Any help will be appreciated!

Hiya CX. I'm not familiar with G.D.C., and G.D.C. diamond grading, but the numbers they use, along with the comment that it is a "fine diamond", suggests that they were (possibly) using the AGS grading system.

Under that system, a 2/2 would be an F color, VVS2 clarity diamond.

Should be easy enough to have verified by a gemologist.
