Hey Guys!
I've been doing research for a couple of months and I have been shopping around and I am currently looking at two oval diamonds. Same grade, same price, almost the same weight, and the same clarity grade.

The one I have seen (and loved) has several twinning wisps and basically no other flaws and I can barley make them out on a 10x.

The other one I am interested in has many other imperfections but are graded the same. The jeweler trying to sell me this one is a known acquaintance and said this diamond was beautiful but it is a 4h drive away and I was wondering if it was worth going to take a look.

I was basically wondering if the twinning wisps affected the brilliance and sparkle of the diamond at all or would the other diamond have a much better look?

I was also concerned about the indented natural imperfection in the other one.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! I attached the certs as well!

Welcome to Pricescope jharog.

SI1 twinning wisps such as you describe can be some of my favorite inclusions. Please correct me if I am wrong, but I am guessing that you can barely make them out with a 10X loupe because they are clear crystalline inclusions, not black?

As such they will have little to no affect on the brilliance and beauty of the oval diamond that you are looking at. They have reduced the price dramatically from what the VS1 or VS2 would cost you if they were suddenly missing, and if they are the only inclusions, then you will be REALLY glad that they are there, as the oval is still affordable.

I can not speak to the other diamond, or actually even this diamond specifically as I am in the trade, but I can honestly tell you that I LOVE twinning wisps that clear crystals and few enough in number that they get the SI1 grade. Even many diamonds with SI2 twinning wisps can be magnificent.

Thank you Wink!

Pricescope has been a great resource for my education on the Diamond industry.

I really appreciate your insight and yes they are clear wisps, I could not make them out until the salesman pointed them out. I think I will decide to go with that gem because it really does look like a VS. I was just concerned with it affecting the brilliance but now I have no real concerns!

I really appreciate your help! Thanks

Plus the top one is bigger (not heavier). Well, okay, technically it is .03 heavier, but the face up size will be noticeably larger.
