Hi there,
My girlfriend is totally in love with this setting from Kay jewelers but of course, the center stone is junk and I'd love to find something better. Only complication? I'm on a tight deadline and need to have the ring in less than 3 weeks to make sure I can propose while we're home visiting our families (we live in Australia right now but will be back for Thanksgiving). Anyway, if anyone could point me to a setting that's REALLY close to this, I'd very much appreciate it. I checked out all of the settings on many sites, including WF and BN, but haven't really found one with the halo of round diamonds and the interesting band that this design has. Thanks!!!

Please do not go with Kay Jewelers, I think you'd be sorry. Here is my experience with them: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/kay-jewelers-ugh-do-not-go-in-there.44483/?hilit=kay

I would bring the picture of the ring you like to some reputable local jewelers and see what they say. But here are some similar online ones (don't know anything about the venders though):

These Tacori's are close:

It's a little unusual to have the pave on the side with a plain shank on the top, particularly with the pinched band. With images in hand, you might be able to get someone to fabricate it for you really quick (I recommend ERD for fast work, myself). The issue is that custom settings are fabricated to fit the stone (particularly with halos), so you really have to locate the diamond ASAP as well.

Good luck!

If you can't find a setting in time to match the desired setting, I'd set a diamond in a temporary setting and then work with a vendor afterwards to get the setting done right with your to be fiance. Yea, it's not the most romantic, but at least you'd know that you and your fiance can get the type of setting that she wants.

Wow, thanks for the amazing response everyone! I really appreciate all of your thoughts and ideas.
I like all of the Tacori styles but there's something that seems too "angular" about most of them. None of them have struck me as having the softness that she's looking for. But they're gorgeous, no doubt!

So far, this one has really got my eye: http://www.mdcdiamonds.com/engagementdetails.cfm?Stock=ES457&Country=US#
Thanks to Sparkles22!

Has anyone dealt with this company? Any thoughts on their quality? Their diamonds seem very reasonably priced and it looks like I can get a very, very nice 5x5 mm (~.7ct) stone for around $2500. Any testimonials on them would be greatly appreciated, though.

Most of the jewelers I've talked to have quoted 4-6 weeks, which is just outside of my timeframe (piss poor planning, I know!), which is why I'm hoping to find something already designed.

And now I'm thinking she'd really like this one: http://www.dimendscaasi.com/build/step1.asp?prodID=1-D4

Has anyone used this place in Chicago?!?
This diamond seems like a great value to go in that setting, as well.

You cannot judge a princess cut by the numbers.

Ask DS to take an ASET image of the stone.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the help again and let you know that Dimend Scaasi has been fantastic so far. Super fast service, fast turnaround on all questions and requests, plus a really great value on exactly what I was looking for. If anything goes wrong once the ring comes in, I'll update here, but five stars all around so far!!!
