Help Setting Diamond Studs

Hi all, my husband bought be a pair of gorgeous round cut studs for mothers day! I am over the moon. However, I don't like the setting, which is fine as the jeweler made clear to him when he purchased that we can re-set them if desired.

I prefer less metal and yellow gold. What is the preferred setting for these stones so they sit straight up on my ear? TCW is just over 3 carats, so each is just over 1.5.

Those are a nice style. Getting oversized earring backs, large ear nuts, would often help keep the diamonds facing out. If you have thin ear lobes, the weight of the stones will tip the settings downward, too. If you change the setting, try to get ones which have a broad, flat base rather than rounded. The larger and flatter the contact surfaces to your ear, front and back, the better chance they will face outward.
