Hi, I am looking to buy a diamond to be placed onto an engagement ring.

My search criteria for the past months have been:
Carat: 0.9 - 1.2
Color: H+ (Or I with Strong Fluorescence)
Clarity: VS2+
Cut: Ideal+
Symmetry - Excellent+
Polish - Excellent+

With a budget of $5000 for the diamond, I have finally narrowed it down to 3 based on my budget:
1. http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-search#diamonds_pid=LD01816733
2. http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-search#diamonds_pid=LD03431427
3. http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-search#diamonds_pid=LD03453137

I plan on using this for the setting:

Before I make my decision and pull the trigger, I would like some opinions of which of the 3 diamonds you considered the better choice. My main concerns are the number of inclusions diamond 2 has (4), the type of inclusion diamond 3 has (Twinning wisp), and how medium fluorescence affects H color.

Also, I would love to hear suggestion on what would make this ring better. A part of me would like to get something bigger than 1 carat, but I have no idea which of my criteria can be sacrificed. Suggestions are welcomed :D

Thanks

IMO 3800 for that setting is expensive, but depends on the size of the stones. Ask BN what the size of each gradation is.

Hi

I think the only concern I would have is if option 2 or 3 have negative impact of Fluo, IMO option number 1 is good.
Check if BN could arrange the Image of you to look at before pulling the trigger.

All these stones being VS or VVs quality, stones would be good and I really don't think there is anything to worry about.

I would go for option number 1 0.90ct H/VS2.

If I were you I would prefer to go with 1ct because they will add more value and would help at the time of upgrade,
you could sacrifice in clarity, you could go with SI1 clarity and it will not affect the look of the stone whatsoever.

Wow...that price is high! You can get a nice designer setting for that price. NEIL has a setting
similar to that and I bet she didn't pay anywhere near that much. Its a pretty setting...I just want
You to get your moneys worth.

You might see where she got her' s done.

Thanks for the advice. I do agree the setting is on the high side, although I like this style a lot.
I took a look at Niel's and it's definitely how I would like to envision my ring.

I will take a look at the settings on JA and see what I can find.
And also try to convince Niel to divulge her secrets :Up_to_something:
