This is my first post. I've been reading and trying to learn as much as I can. I feel like the more I learn, the more difficult this decision gets, though.

My goal is simple, or so I thought: maximize the size of the Pear shaped center stone while maintaining very strong visual appeal to the untrained or novice eye. My budget for the aforementioned center stone is around $10,000 (+/- $500 or so).

To this point, I have been trying to find a 1.75+ carat, H or better, SI2 or better, ~1.55 l/w ratio (we like wider diamonds), low florescence (I'm told?), nicely proportioned and well cut. Those last two characteristics (proportion and cut) are the ones I'm struggling with most.

I read on Diamonds.Pro that a well cut diamond is very important when it comes to Pear shaped stones but that the GIA doesn't grade the cut.

Do either of the following look like good choices?

Ultimately the center stone will go in a to be determined platinum halo setting with diamonds going down ~3/4 the sides of the band.

If not, any suggestions?

Any and all knowledgeable/experienced help would be much appreciated!

The JA pear has a rather odd outline (squarish bottom) whilst the WF listing does not show the actual picture of the pear and so no one can tell you anything about its cut quality.

Ditto Chrono...the JA stone has "shoulders". Most people would prefer their pears without shoulders. It also has a not-so-flattering
bow-tie area. It is reflecting light through the bow-tie but we usually look for a stone that has a smoother transition through the
bow-tie area.

Unfortunately, cant say anything about the WF stone. No pictures...etc.

The other place besides JA to look would be Enchanted Diamonds.

Let me have a look and see whats out there that matches your specs.

Edit - Not finding anything in the size/budget but here is what I did find.

FYI...not what you are looking for but I* would consider this a pretty pear. Ignore color/clarity and just look at the faceting
pattern and shape of the stone.
