Am seeking advice on how to best to dispose of a diamond bracelet. The piece consists of 15 graduated diamonds ranging from approx 0.5c to 0.4c set in a platinum hollow bracelet. The piece was recently taken out from a bank safe deposit and has a 1979 valuation with it, there is no description of the stones size or quality. Help please. How do I proceed. Thanks in anticipation.

You might want to start by getting a current appraisal of the bracelet. The stones will be tested to verify they are diamond. The appraiser will approximate color, clarity, and carat weight of the stones and check the metal of the setting. You will also get a current fair market value.

After you have the piece appraised, if you want to sell it, you have several alternatives. You can try selling yourself either locally or on eBay. Consign through a local jeweler. List the piece with a local auction house. There are a variety of possibilities.

Will follow your advice.let you know how things pan out.

There are lots of ways to sell a previously purchased item of jewelry.

A lot depends on how much money you want to spend marketing it.

YOu can check with buyers of second hand jewelry getting a price for cash OR consignment ( you don't get paid till its sold).

You can also advertise in the local paper... or think about selling it on Ebay but you will nra very accrate gemological report.

Don't expect to get what you paid for it. It isn't new anymore, and most buyers of used jewelry expect a "deal".
