Hey All,

I''m a long time lurker, but have decided to register to get your opinions. I''m currently looking at diamonds for an engagement ring and having looked around have now found 2 VERY similar diamonds that have piqued my interest and that fall within my budget.

The following are the GIA specs for the 2 diamonds. I was hoping you may give me your opinion on your preferred choice (I know they are much of a muchness), and also give me some advice on what to ask when enquiring about them further (for instance, both have feathers but I have yet to see where on the diamond the feathers are):

I''ve never bought a diamond before so any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

First thing I would ask if they are eye-clean. SI2 might not be.

If they are, and the feather do not result in any durability issue, then I prefer 2 from the numbers.

Just to muddy the water a bit, this diamond is being shipped in for me to have a look at aswell. Exact same price as the above 2 diamonds.

Looks good from the numbers.

Hi Narlakor and welcome!

Diamonds 2 and 3 are worth further evaluation, see if this seller has an Idealscope you can use to view each diamond.

Interesting, why do you feel the 2nd one is better than the first?

Ditto - 2 & 3 could be good. pavilion 41.2 in #1 may be okay, may not be, 2 & 3 are safer combos generally

Thanks for your help guys. I have since viewed Diamond 3 and the choice was made. I have now commisioned #3 to be set in an 18ct Yellow Gold ring with Platinum claw, very similar design to your classic tiffany''s setting. I''ll post pics once I get my hands on it.

I was going to pick 3, so I''m glad to hear you liked it! Please come back with photos.

I thought you may like to know that I now have the ring and plan on giving it to her on Saturday. No pictures yet, I don''t want to risk her finding the pics on my camera/phone/pc. You''ll have to wait till it''s on her finger.

no prob.
