Help refine a "toi et moi" setting: emerald diamond and oval opal?

I love to play with ring design! How about an eternity symbol, with criss cross at the shank? (Pardon my elementary drawing)

Oo. Love it. Though I’ve never seen an emerald in an oval setting shape?

@MakingTheGrade I like to believe anything is possible. A crafty jeweler could figure it out!

Here are some more two stone settings I found BCAEE4E3-1B1D-4AF0-BAED-A32DAEBDBF23.png DC7AAE2A-652E-4718-8E92-0AE1FAD7350C.pngFC7034CD-8A25-4EDA-B64A-E9F20B292592.png ADEDB2FA-06B9-4545-B4DE-83485F30C4C8.png D6BF2321-FF92-4145-ACFD-F54988787761.png 9020DBA0-0112-47A9-A4AE-2674B60DCBAB.png 72343C14-073A-483C-AB4C-FCC66B986517.png

And a few more for ideas-

Ohhh I see what you mean. So I think for that to work the angles of the bands may have to be “off” center of each other in a weird way. Let me try to mock it up

Hey it almost works. I think with bezels it might be too big for my finger at those angles.

I like this and the similar sketch versions the best
Beautiful stones ... love your idea.
:wavey:

Thanks!
I appreciate all the help finding inspiration photo!

Wanted to share that my other toi et moi ring is done! Makes designing the emerald diamond/opal one harder because I want it to be really special and not look like another one of my rings...

I love it! I can’t wait now to have her make my ring.

Yeah Jen did a bang up job on it. Some small issues with the tilt of the tsav but it’s an easy fix.

Maybe more of a vertical orientation for the new ring would set it apart.

A vertical orientation makes sense
Maybe something like this:

Based on tracking info, both stones should make it to me by Tuesday/Wednesday next week! I think I’ll have a better sense of things once I can manipulate the actual stones and see them together.
Of course if one or both don’t perform well, it’s back to the drawing board!!

20181130_050624.jpg maybe the stones bezeled individually, but together in a metal frame, with or without accent stones, to tie them together?

Wow! Bling-a-ling.

@MakingTheGrade, what are the dimensions of the stones again? I am not sure of the size of your hands/length of your fingers, but will a vertical design be comfortable for you to wear with these stone sizes?

Just checking to be sure :)

Height wise the emerald is 7.6 and the opal is 7mm so plus the setting it’d be pretty tall lol

I have a ring that's 15.5 in diameter, and I an not blessed with long fingers. It's big, but I love it anyway.
I also mocked this up below, hope you don't mind. I just love playing with ideas.

Oh that looks really cool!

HI:

I say two stackers--designed so they look like one. I really love opals but would want to keep my EC as clean as possible (you know how this is) and opals are kinda fragile and high maintenance. They would be beautiful together but not necessarily compatible in the same setting unless you are content to baby toothbrush your ring daily!:lol-2::P2 (moreover, a design could be as such that a stackers could be part the center part of an "insert"--aka wedding band). Lots of options.

cheers--Sharon

If you have examples of puzzle or integrated stackers I’d love to see them! I don’t think I’d want them as standard solitaire stackers..

Some bands that fit together. I'm not sure how they would look by themselves (maybe you could cover the gap with the stones?) Or how to even incorporate the stones, buuuutttt.....

Or, oooooo.... Something like this, but with a stone on the simple band part? Somehow? I just think this is a generally cool design for interlocking rings. If you didn't include the extra diagonal detail (though it's pretty), the stone on the simple band could probably overlap the the bottom horizontal support of the other ring (if I am making aaaany sense at all, haha)

On a simpler note, a set like this may be just the ticket.

An interpretation of the second ring set. Maybe.

53AAF92A-661B-4B86-8F29-4A8F5AFE16A6.jpeg Or something like this if I could figure out how to shape them so they are relatively flush when worn fitted together.

So cute! My only concern would be how they would look on their own of/when not worn as a set. The biggest challenge of an interlocking stacking set I think...

I have similar concerns but will be playing a lot of molding plastic and wire to try to figure something out!

Today’s interlocking/fitted ring model brought to you by pipe cleaners! Lol.

The “stones” in this model are bigger than the measurements of the gems and probably still a few mm bigger even including metal but gives you an idea.

In other news: hopefully the diamond is arriving tomorrow! :)

Oh I hope they arrive today!!!

Yay pipe cleaner fun! Finally something actually in my skill set

In a real world scenario in which the stones were set above the shanks, you should be able to have rings without gaps in the shank, no? kind of like how a flush-fit band slips under the bottom of a stone. Except in this case the two stones hug each other :)

And fingers crossed for the delivery!

Good news: delivery arrived. I love the K color which I can only notice when I put it next to my F rounds. The brown tint looks very subtle charming to me.

Bad news: I’m not thrilled enough with the cut and performance to keep it. :/

Back to the drawing board for a bit. This won’t be the last of this idea though! Lol
