Help refine a "toi et moi" setting: emerald diamond and oval opal?

Like this?

Opal and emerald cut.png

Ok and let me disclaimer this, quite embarrassed, basically downloaded an app on my phone and used my finger to do this and it's impossible. Not an artist!

With the two stones being almost the same width the bottom design would need wide angles in the “x” which I don’t think would be comfortable for me to wear.

Also if you “center” the emerald then the oval is off and down for the side.

Ohhh I see what you mean. So I think for that to work the angles of the bands may have to be “off” center of each other in a weird way. Let me try to mock it up

Hey it almost works. I think with bezels it might be too big for my finger at those angles.

Personally I love this one. But I see what you mean. Do you want the stones to be tilted or face up?

Haha I’m finding this less about art and more about spatial reasoning skills. Yikes. Not my strong suite

Face up preferably

Pshhhh. These are great!

So it looks like, in order to have both stones centered on the band (each on their own "orbit") either the bands have to cross asymmetrically, or the stones have to sit assymetrically on the finger (the opal a bit to the bottom right, with the EC centered).

(Let's be honest, MTG is the center of attention anyway. SO--the opal--is just an accessory!:lol:)

Or both have to be a bit off center like the first “vertical” design.

Haha awwww thanks!

Yes or to have the X off centre, which may also not be your thing. I feel like you've now done all the variables possible with the crossed wire combination so hopefully you can look through them and see if you have a preference? Do you? :D

Did you see my post up above about the softness of ovals? I managed to hide it in the quote by mistake but have removed it from said quote now.

I’m assuming you mean “of opals”. And yes I know. I’m a CS girl at heart and actually spent most of the last 10 years on PS in the colored stones forums rather than diamonds lol. It’s likely I will not wear it daily as I have other rings I will probably alternate in and out as wedding rings depending how swollen my fingers are :p.

But this one would be for the wedding ceremony and be the official “ring”. Funnily enough it’s the least expensive of my diamond rings, compared to my 5 stone and fancy light marquise. So much for the Engagement ring being the most expensive piece of bling.

hmmm... Yeah. Kind of feeling like you hit the nail on the head with the first one.

It’s fun to brainstorm though!
Also now that I can mock up rings, omg. All the time coming to be doing little wire models for my colored stone projects :p

Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out! The design below appeals to me the most at the moment. Of course, once you get the emerald cut
and get to lay them out together I might see something else I like.

It's going to be very interesting to look at with the different textures/gold colors (not to mention the emerald cut and the opal)!

I really like the criss-cross shank and its symbolism but I wonder if the size of the 2 stones and your ring finger size will make the design less than optimum for this particular ring?

As another option, this shank doesn't criss-cross or even overlap much, but it does incorporate 2 different shapes and you could do the two-tone metal you were considering with both stones bezelled (unlike bypass below though, no melee/halo around your roval Opal)...

Oooo, I like that one a lot.

I'm not wed to the two tone either.
Did some photoshopping:

I think if I did this one I'd just have the whole thing rose gold, or maybe rose gold with the emerald in unplated white?

I really love the way both of these look. They both are visually appealing to me.

Maybe? Though I'm not sure the EC would play nice with something like this

Do you definitely want two different metal colors? It may be. Nice way to link the two different stones by having one metal. But then it looks cool also with different just a thought! Really like @marymm’s photo

How about something like this.

I like it all in white metals, with one of the crossover bands having diamond pave.

I also want to throw out the idea of the rings being stacking rings - two become one! Design them so that they can fit perfectly together, but also be wore separately because a) they have different durability and b) you are a PSer and for some (maybe you?) variety is LIFE.

True but there’s something romantic I think about it being one ring. Maybe if it was like a puzzle stacker of some sort where they uniquely interact with each other?

Oh I totally agree on the romance of them being fused together! But for me, it was in my vows that I would stay myself even as we grew closer. So personally I am drawn to an idea of rings that are together by choice despite being separate entities, lol!

Plus, variety.

OMG ALL THE RINGS

Also I like the idea of something like this. Stacking the two stones and having the criss-cross band in the background.extended.pngI mean, you really have to use your imagination but I hope this pic is inspiring :)

Ok ignore my previous ideas. Obviously these are the two best options!! I love the photoshopped ideas.

Haha thanks!

Once the stones get here I’ll have a better sense of proportions and can do more wire modelling but with the stones themselves!

Very very carefully! I popped out gems while trying to do wire wrapping so many times...
