I echo others that the new 1.2 I VS2 definitely looks better!
@Matthews1127 WF is always a good suggestion! However, the suggested stones are from virtual inventory and I would probably recommend steering away form them and sticking only to "in-house" diamonds. Here is one from their ES https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3800301.htm
Also, OP what setting do you have in mind? If halo, I remember seeing this ring in pre-loved. It has ideal cut center stone in SK halo and his work is really beautiful. If still available, the seller may be willing to negotiate more as it has been on the market for a while now: https://loupetroop.com/listings/rings/ags-ideal-1-dot-10ct-j-slash-si1-round-in-sk-halo-setting
I did find it on JA, the IGI J color stone is just so much cheaper
Agreed. It costs a vendor practically the same amount of money to get a stone graded by EGL, IGI, GIA and AGS. They send the stone to the lab with the most favorable grading. Color is notoriously soft outside of GIA and AGS (AGS being softer than GIA). So, while it may appear to be a deal, it will likely be 2-colors lower (maybe 3) than GIA. So, it will be a diamond with a easily discerned tint. You'll have to determine how important that is. GIA I color is when most can start to detect tint from the side.Probably because it would be a GIA K/L

This is the top contender right now. JA 1.2 I VS2, 6.8 mm.

This traded color for size. 6.97 mm.
7.10 mm. Need an ASET. https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...j-color-vs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-3510221
Another thing to consider is the trade-up policy of each vendor. JA will require a trade-up being twice the price, while WF allows upgrade with no limitations on the value of the tradeup (provided its more). If you gal turns out to be color sensitive, she would have the option to trade this diamond for a whiter color from WF. If that is important, here are two right at $7k (lots more options at lower options too).
1.212 I SI1, 6.79 mm, https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3800301.htm {its eyeclean and the inclusion is clear, but this may trouble you on the mind-clean perspective as you noted above relative to returns)
1.142 I VS2, 6.69 mm, I https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3801997.htm
BGD requires you upgrade 2 of color/clarity/carat for trade up, but this is a great option if the photos and ASET pan out. It is fluorescence so that will lift the J color in some lighting (natural).
