I'm not sure how to read this image. It looks pretty good to me although the reds are darker than some of the examples ones I'd seen. Nervous about this diamond being rated a J from IGI but figure if the cut is good enough (HCA: 1.5), it won't matter. 3433605.jpg

The ASET is not the worst although there is clearly light leakage under the table, however, I would not recommend an IGI stone (and please note that I actually own 2). The lab is just not as strict as GIA and AGS when it comes to grading and considering the number of round brilliants available, there will be plenty of other options. What is your budget and overall requirements? Did you find the posted stone on JA?

I did find it on JA, the IGI J color stone is just so much cheaper. Budget is probably in the ~7k range, but would like to go with a bigger carat while maintaining the excellent cut. Was looking at I, but when I dropped down to J this one just looked great to me. Link. It seems clearly lower priced because it is IGI.

My debate is basically that the J coloration is obvious on Jamesallen, but when I took at stones in person at my local jeweler it seems very difficult to see with the naked eye.

Nice, seems to have ?higher crown with shallower pavilion based on the scope with slightly longer LGF. Some minor painting and lack of optical symmetry but much better than your first one. What are the specs?

Sorry posted the link but it didn't really show up! It's 1.20 CRT I-VS2 Link:SKU:2852339 (GIA) HCA: 0.8 for $6.6k. Seems like a decent deal?

Can you give us an idea of your exact preferences? Carat, and Clarity, please? Max budget is 7k. Color is between I & J. Cut needs to be excellent/ideal. How big/heavy do you want for your money? Eye clean is always a bonus. How high in clarity do you expect to go? I'm thinking between VS1-VVS2....
Any hints you can give are helpful. I'd like to do my own search & see what I can find to give you more options...

@Matthews1127, obviously biggest I can go while maintaining quality. I or J, prefer to go with VS2+ since I'll be buying online and don't want to deal with returns if possible.

Are you set on JA, or are you open to other vendors?

I echo others that the new 1.2 I VS2 definitely looks better!

@Matthews1127 WF is always a good suggestion! However, the suggested stones are from virtual inventory and I would probably recommend steering away form them and sticking only to "in-house" diamonds. Here is one from their ES https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3800301.htm

Also, OP what setting do you have in mind? If halo, I remember seeing this ring in pre-loved. It has ideal cut center stone in SK halo and his work is really beautiful. If still available, the seller may be willing to negotiate more as it has been on the market for a while now: https://loupetroop.com/listings/rings/ags-ideal-1-dot-10ct-j-slash-si1-round-in-sk-halo-setting

That LT listing is beautiful!! :eek2:
I typically don't bother posting loose diamond listings without visual aids, but I wanted to throw them out there, in case OP wanted to inquire with WF, and get vids or ASET/IS on any of the above certs that gained interest. I was surprised at the size I found for budget, which is why I believed it might be of interest to OP. ;)2

Probably because it would be a GIA K/L
Agreed. It costs a vendor practically the same amount of money to get a stone graded by EGL, IGI, GIA and AGS. They send the stone to the lab with the most favorable grading. Color is notoriously soft outside of GIA and AGS (AGS being softer than GIA). So, while it may appear to be a deal, it will likely be 2-colors lower (maybe 3) than GIA. So, it will be a diamond with a easily discerned tint. You'll have to determine how important that is. GIA I color is when most can start to detect tint from the side.

This is the top contender right now. JA 1.2 I VS2, 6.8 mm.
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...i-color-vs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-2852339

This traded color for size. 6.97 mm.
7.10 mm. Need an ASET. https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...j-color-vs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-3510221

Another thing to consider is the trade-up policy of each vendor. JA will require a trade-up being twice the price, while WF allows upgrade with no limitations on the value of the tradeup (provided its more). If you gal turns out to be color sensitive, she would have the option to trade this diamond for a whiter color from WF. If that is important, here are two right at $7k (lots more options at lower options too).

1.212 I SI1, 6.79 mm, https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3800301.htm {its eyeclean and the inclusion is clear, but this may trouble you on the mind-clean perspective as you noted above relative to returns)

1.142 I VS2, 6.69 mm, I https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3801997.htm

BGD requires you upgrade 2 of color/clarity/carat for trade up, but this is a great option if the photos and ASET pan out. It is fluorescence so that will lift the J color in some lighting (natural).

So, I'm curious what you think of my first suggestion from JA:
