Hello,
I’m wondering if any experts would weigh in on these two diamonds. I am looking at both of these in person at the Tucson show. I am wanting one for a solitaire bezel set pendant. They both look good to my eye but would appreciate any input from PSers that are so much more knowledgeable than I. Tomorrow is the final day of the show but I could buy later at a slightly higher price. Thank you!02B3BE59-0311-422D-9B77-F299F6CD6B25.pngB9F6385C-0A7A-4372-8ED3-4DE686A37F12.png

First one is slightly steep/deep and the second one the pavilion is way to deep.
There is better out there.

Thank you, that’s very helpful. I was letting the time factor play a part in my decision and I realize that’s not wise. I will continue my search.

Resisting what looks like a bargain when the pressure is on can be difficult! :)

If you post your desired specifications and budget the prosumers here would be very happy to help.
Being in the trade I can not recommend diamonds but they would be very happy to help.
They know more about selecting diamonds than many trade members.

Not a fan of either set of proportions. IMO, the better of the two is the first one but it's a steep/deep as already pointed out. You can find better.

What kind of a "deal" is being offered?

I'd imagine the second stone is considerably cheaper -- F, SI2 and medium blue fluor.

Agree!. The first one is steep/deep and the second one is a flat top with deep bottom half.

Yes the better stone was priced at about $3500 and the F, SI2 at about $2400. I passed on both stones and think I am more comfortable buying online with the advice (approval!) of the experts here.
My initial idea is a stone around .8 carat for a bezel pendant. I don’t think I necessarily need an ideal cut, although you all might convince me otherwise. I would like a stone that is eye clean, maybe F, G, H, possible SI 1 or even SI 2. I was hoping to spend in the $3500 range but realize my that amount might not get the specifications listed.
It seems that a lot of the advice here is for engagement rings and upgraded diamonds for rings, and I understand people wanting ideal cuts.
When I look at videos and images online and read numbers I get overwhelmed. I thought if I looked in person I could pick something out just by looking. But when I did that I realized I am better off asking for help here. So back to square one!
I am grateful for all your replies as I realize this is a rather insignificant diamond compared to many impending purchases I read about here. I will try to zero in on some choices and see what I find

You could have your cake and eat it too.

BGD Signature H&A - 0.788 F SI1 @ $3,512 wire (or $3,113 after VDay discount code)

56.2 table, 61.1 depth, 34.1 crown, 40.7 pavilion, 75 LGF's  & 55 stars

Measures out at 5.94 x 5.96mm, which is the same diameter as the 0.80 stone you originally posted.

Cut is ideal. Eye clean. Excellent color. Good upgrade program that only requires you spend $1 more + upgrade 2 of the following 3 C's: color, carat weight or clarity.

You have a full array of images and data to prove performance. And using discount code VDAY14201 shoots the gap between your minimum and maximum budget limits.

Thank you Sledge! I guess I have extreme faith in your knowledge as I just put this on hold. I am contemplating two settings, the basic slider bezel pic 1, and the Barbara Milgrain bezel pics 2 and 3. I wonder if anyone could weigh in on the possible flipping issue? The sales rep told me it’s an issue of chain length more than the actual setting but I’m not so sure. I’m most appreciative of everyone’s help1668F31C-3259-46AC-9B1D-E65033CF15D5.pngA1B7120F-2C13-4E07-9604-F14C6FBE0A4B.png59368706-420E-4A88-9AC3-E2F3BFFBADA4.png

That is awesome! I think you be very happy. The stone is a little sparkle bomb.

Tell Lesley (Brian's wife) I said hi. She helped me when I bought my wife's stone from them and she was super cool.

Can't comment on the bezel as I have no experience with that. Hoping some of our other regulars will weigh in.

Ok not to second guess your pick but in studying the images a bit more I’m wondering about the area of inclusion (about 5 o’clock on the video image and 8 o’clock on the hearts image), is this anything to worry about? I realize it’s listed as eye clean but just checking

No apology necessary. This will potentially be your new stone so you should scrutinize it.

I did see the inclusions. I think the hearts image brings more attention to it as it's easily seen there. In the video it is a clear crystal and the video is very zoomed/magnified.

I personally do not believe it will be detectable with the naked eye, or any sort of a problem for you.

But for your own peace of mind you can, and should, call BGD to confirm there are no issues.

I think now I may have jumped on this recommended diamond prematurely. I’m sure it’s a beautiful choice. I’ve been rereading other related threads, including the recent one about PSers recommendations being too elite for the newbies. I realized that over the past two or three months I have upped my “mental” budget without specifically meaning to. Suddenly I seem to have fallen into the “not good enough” trap when trying to choose. This isn’t necessarily bad of course.
I’ve got one more day to decide if I want to go this route, or maybe start over in searching for another lovely, albeit less expensive option.
This is not something I will wear daily, and suddenly thinking about spending around $4000 for an occasional wear pendant seems a bit overkill

This one has an ASET that looks promising...
