Help please 2.5mm or 2.7mm for shared prong band

Hi all - can you help me choose, please?

I’m wanting to have a shared prong eternity band made, and I’m struggling between 2.5mm / 6 pointers vs 2.7mm / 8 pointers.

I have pics of both size bands in two different ring settings I’ve tried - the 2.5mm in a u prong setting, and the 2.7mm Tiffany embrace basket style (gray background in pictures).

My solitaire is 1.67ct / 7.67mm - does one size band look much better with the e ring ?

To my eye, I prefer the slightly thinner band as it lets your beautiful solitaire shine

but to play devils advocate, the slightly bigger one makes a very “balanced” look - so it depends on if you like that they are visually more equals or if you want the solitaire to be the star

Also have these photos of a band I tried in a local shop, the tag says .52ct / 9 stones which calculates to .057 each - yet it looks so much smaller than the 2.5mm / .06 band, doesn’t it?? This one was set basket style like the Tiffany embrace

I like the bigger one! There is something about it... I can't put my finger on it (I'm sure that would be helpful) but it just looks right, and awesome.

ETA: maybe it has, in part, something to do with how they are set. I do like the larger size, as it seems more balanced with your ring. However, I think I also really like that you get a bit more definition in shape from each stone, vs. the u-prong where it looks more like a wall or line of bling. For some reason having some definition looks more appealing to my eye, and compliments your solitaire more.

I really like the bigger one as well (your ering can handle it!) but I’m also not that into the thin rings of today. My old eyes need bolder

Yes, I really love seeing the rounded shape of the stones more. I think the larger size 8pt stones will help with that. This scallop setting style I’m going with hopefully will help too:

So, thanks to your responses, I had decided to go with the 8pt stones. But then ! after viewing so many threads here on similar bands, multiple times, I think I now want to go up to 10 pointers/3mm! So long as they won’t be too high off the finger (I’ll check with DK for the depth measurement with the setting once I have that 100% determined).

I haven’t tried one on, but from what I’ve seen here, a band of 10 pointers shouldn’t overpower my solitaire (1.67ct / 7.67mm) ? but if anyone see this - please feel free to let me know if you agree or disagree : )

In case it helps, this will be a switch-up for a bigger / different look, or for wearing on its own - perhaps not for daily wear with my solitaire (I have one band with 1.8mm stones and another 3mm channel set with 2ish mm stones..)
