Sna, thanks, you are a lifesaver, will definitely look into David Wolf.

As for the stone, I had a friend look at the specs online as well, in regards to that one crystal inclusion around 8:00, you said that it wasn't visible to the naked eye, correct?

I took a look at the Vatche U113, it looks like a beautiful setting. I know my girlfriend is looking for a simple platinum solitaire band, but one in which the band tapers into the center, is the U113 a uniform band throughout, or does it narrow in at the center?

I'm trying to decide on a solitaire setting by Vatche or Brian Galvin - is there a reason why you preferred one over the other?

Thank you again :wavey:

Crystal was not visible to the naked eye--saw it under a 10x loupe (which you would expect from an SI1).

Brian Gavin I believe is known for being a cutter, not ring designer. His settings are a bit more "stock" than the Vatche ones I believe.

When you say "tapers into the center" do you mean a knife-edge setting? If so, the Vatche setting is indeed knife-edge. Here are some detailed pictures of it.

Picture #3 really shows how the band tapers into the center.

thank you again, really helpful!

when I say tapered, I mean that the width of the band gradually gets a bit more narrow towards the center, instead of being a uniform width throughout. I guessing you're right, my jewelery lingo is atrocious, what I'm trying to describe is probably knife-edged. My girlfriend think that a band like that is more feminine and dainty looking - so guessing Vatche U113 could indeed be a winner!

Yes, it does indeed sound like you are describing a knife-edge setting. It is the classic Tiffany style setting, and most women love the look and are familiar with the style. My wife wanted to go with this style, beacuse it's considered timeless, and she didn't want her e-ring to be "trendy" etc...

Tiffany Classic 6 Prong Engagement Ring

If you look at the pics of the T&Co setting you can see that same knife-edge design.
