Re: Help Picking Between 2 Stones - Proposing on Valentines
Crystal was not visible to the naked eye--saw it under a 10x loupe (which you would expect from an SI1).
Brian Gavin I believe is known for being a cutter, not ring designer. His settings are a bit more "stock" than the Vatche ones I believe.
When you say "tapers into the center" do you mean a knife-edge setting? If so, the Vatche setting is indeed knife-edge. Here are some detailed pictures of it.
Picture #3 really shows how the band tapers into the center.

As for the stone, I had a friend look at the specs online as well, in regards to that one crystal inclusion around 8:00, you said that it wasn't visible to the naked eye, correct?
I took a look at the Vatche U113, it looks like a beautiful setting. I know my girlfriend is looking for a simple platinum solitaire band, but one in which the band tapers into the center, is the U113 a uniform band throughout, or does it narrow in at the center?
I'm trying to decide on a solitaire setting by Vatche or Brian Galvin - is there a reason why you preferred one over the other?
Thank you again![]()
