I am looking to get an AVC for a pendant in the .7 or .8 range. Looking for something warmer as it seems to save a lot of money plus I think it would look great in yellow or rose gold which I want to do. I have narrowed it down to the 4 below but it's hard to make a decision! Which one would you pick and why?

I like the first one because it's FREE! (Just kidding . . . I'm sure Jon just hasn't had a chance to add a price to the listing yet. LOL!)

I think they're all gorgeous and you can't go wrong with any of them. But I think I'd go with the last (and largest) option. It appears to be VERY clean and I'm frankly surprised that its clarity grade isn't higher than SI1!

Keep in mind that two of the options you posted are elongated and two are more square. These do give you different looks. IMO, both the elongated and square AVCs are absolutely beautiful, but you might want to consider how you plan to set the stone when deciding between the two shapes. If you're planning to do a star-set pendant, you'll probably want a square stone. An elongated stone would give you the option to set it east/west which might look really cool in a pendant! :))

Bumping for any other thoughts before I make my decision?

Thank you Irishgrrrl for your thoughts! Not sure how I will set it but probably just something simple

I have a small AVC, its an square E VS 1ct on a fixed necklace. Rose gold chain & plat basket. What shape do you prefer?

Hoda Kotb often wears a similiar necklace with a small diamond, & I've always admired it. You will not regret your AVC purchase, these things are virtual headlights of sparkle.

I also own a N AVC, & I love the champagne tones of that one also. I really think the color choice is something only you can make, what are your feelings re color?

I really love the cut on that .72 K, it is so crisp looking. What did Jon say about those inclusions? I wonder how much impact they have overall? I'd probably consider the .72 K, I'd have to think about the inclusions & whether they might be visible, how do you feel about that? Since its a necklace, I wonder really how much those inclusions would affect things.

The .83 L just doesn't look as appealing to me, maybe its not as crisp--plus it looks like a smudge (its a cloud) in the upper left quadrant, I think I'd nix that one.

The .856 K also would not be my top choice, as those feathers may present a problem, what did Jon have to say about the feathers? What shape do you prefer, this one is more rectangular than the .72 K.

And the .73 M, basically boils down to your feelings about the color, and which shape you prefer, square or rectangular. I love the buttery tone, I think it is luscious.

Heres a pic of my AVC pendant on the right so you can get a feel for size etc. (I take the worst PS pics.) The left is an OEC 1.35 I. The AVC is 5.96 x 5.74, & the OEC is 6.98 x 6.89 for reference.

What are your thoughts re color & shape? Which AVC do you like?

I like the last one. You get a good size & colour. The feathers might be an issue in a ring but in a pendant, I don't see this as a consideration. What did Jonathan have to say about it? You have to decide if you want a square or rectangular stone. You can always set the rectangular stone E-W too. Gorgeous stones. :-)

You basically cannot go wrong with any of your choices, so it really is going to come down to your personal preference. My pick of the bunch is the .72 K because I love a square cushion and K is my limit on color. =)2

I think stones without prices are listed on James Allen.

I like the stones that have closest to a 1-1 ratio most. I don't like elongated ones for pendants as much as I like them for rings.

Thank you sarahb and everyone else that commented! Unfortunately I'm still at a loss, I really don't know what I prefer, I am drawn to the square shape (my e-ring is a .80 square lucida) but at the same time interested in rectangular to be a little different from my lucida. I asked about the inclusions/feathers and told they are all eye clean and no issues. I am going to get a video to compare them more realistically tomorrow.

@sarahb I really love the setting on your AVC pendant and this is probably how I want mine done. Do you have any pictures of the side/back so I know what to ask for? Also did you have it set by an online vendor or locally?

My 2 cents: I also love the square look and adore the K 0.72. That chunkiness

Hi hrose! I purchased this AVC from Jon/Rhino when he was at GOG.
The entire process was seamless. He was VERY accommodating, great guy to do business with.

Initially I was indecisive regarding size. He went to the trouble to have a video made of a gal modeling the different sizes on her neck so I could see what my options looked like. I didn't want a large stone, but didn't want one too small either. I felt the size I picked was perfect for the use I had in mind. Here's the video, it may help you picture the sizes you are considering:

The setting is a simple basket setting on a fixed chain. Rose gold chain, plat basket. Jon did the setting also, and it was not expensive. You can see I had a jump ring added, and am glad I did. Hope this helps you, have fun with your project! :wavey:

Sarahb thank you for sharing your video! I think that helps so much to make a decision, hoping to get my video today! And thank you for sharing the additional pictures of your setting, I think that is basically what I would want, something simple and easy to wear. After I get the video I'll just need to decide if I want it set now or get the stone loose so I still have the option to return it.
