Hi All,

I've narrowed it down to 3 diamonds. Which of these would you choose?

#1 – 1.70 carets, E color, VS1, Very good cut, measurements: 7.91 – 8.00 x 4.53 mm. Table: 64% Depth: 57% Crown Angle: 32 degrees Pavilion Angle: 41.2 degrees

#2 – 1.76 carets, D color, SI1, Very good cut, measurements: 7.70 – 7.75 x 4.81 mm Table: 59% Depth: 62.3% Crown Angle: 35.5 degrees Pavilion Angle: 41.6 degrees

#3 – 2.03 carets, H color, SI1, Very good cut, measurements: 7.99 – 8.01 x 5.04 mm Table: 57% Depth: 63% Crown Angle: 34.5 degrees Pavilion Angle: 41.0 degrees

Thanks in advance for all your help!

Sorry to say this, but none of them. The table is huuuuuuge on the first one. The 3rd one has too much depth so will look smaller than a well cut diamond of the same carat weight. They all have a very good cut versus excellent or ideal. On your other thread you mentioned you wanted something sparkly. The "cut" is what makes a diamond sparkly, not the other Cs, so you should be focusing on that. If this whole diamond thing is overwhelming, the best thing to do is work with a vendor that will do the homework for you or pick an AGS certed Ideal stone. The suggested Whiteflash stones will perform WAY better than your current picks. Other PS vendors to look at would be Good Old Gold or Brian Gavin off the top of my head.

Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback! I was a bit overwhelmed by all of the decisions, so I went to a local store that was recommended to me by a friend who was really satisfied (and who got a really sparkly ring for his wife from there), so I was trying to just run with it. But I'll go back to the drawing board. I'll post some additional information on the other thread and see if I get some other recommendations. Thanks again!

I hope I wasn't too harsh, but you obviously are spending a lot of money and I would hate for you to buy a lifeless diamond! Trust me, I know from personal experience. Our lack of diamond knowledge on my first diamond has led to expensive upgrades ever since!

I noticed you had a wide color range so it seems like you were fine with an H color? Do you prefer to buy on-line or at a local jeweler? The sites I recommended provide analysis on the diamonds so you know you are getting a well cut stone. It takes the guesswork out of it and these vendors have great trade-in and buy-back policies as well. I know some Whiteflash diamonds were recommended on your other thread, I would highly encourage you to look at them and read reviews on Whiteflash. Also, I don't know if your budget has changed, so here are some from Good Old Gold in the size you are after:

No, you weren't too harsh. I really appreciate it. Like you said its a lot of money and I want to make sure I get something great.

I looked at an H today and I couldn't really notice a difference between that and the D I was looking at, so I think I'd be fine with H or better. I was initially leaning towards a local jeweler, just because I have so little experience with diamonds and didn't have any idea what different colors would look like. But after taking a look at some, I think I would be comfortable buying online.

Thanks again for your input!

There might be some sales tax advantages to buying on-line too!

Agree! None of the three you posted. You can do waaay better with your budget!

You had some very nice WF options you posted in another thread. And the 3 stones that tweeter posted from GOG all look gorgeous. I believe they will make a video for you of the stones you're interested in which is really helpful and a nice way to choose.
