Dear PSers,
Lurking here the past few weeks trying to learn as much as I can about sapphires, first time poster, first time gemstone owner. My BF and I fell in love with this pear Montana sapphire e-ring setting option at a local jeweler last week:
However, I was crushed to discover the sapphire as a little too green for my taste in person. In addition it appeared too "glassy" for my taste and the least sparkly by far of the 15 Montana non-pear sapphires I had the pleasure of trying on that day. The NAGL report indicated windowing of 5-10% (is this significant?). I now have my heart set on creating a similar ring with a different stone.
After we have combed the internet for hours from PS's (super helpful!) list of vendors for a loose pear stone and come up short, I feel as though I have fallen hopelessly in love with a unicorn. Help!
Here's what we're looking for:
1. A medium tone sapphire that is greenish-blue with more blue present than green. Blues with elements of teal, aqua, or yellow are also lovely. I adore it when you can see different colors at different angles, which originally attracted me to Montana sapphires. Open to parti/bicolor sapphires.
2. Ideally 1.25 - 2.00 carats
3. Pear cut
4. Don't mind heated
5. Budget is up to $4,000 USD
This stone is currently the only contender:
https://www.thenaturalsapphirecompany.com/1.44ct-montana-pear-blue-sapphire-b8260-/
However, I'm worried about the cut (thoughts?!) and know the natural sapphire company has occasionally received unfavorable reviews here.
Thank you in advance for any guidance and thoughts. This is such a knowledgeable and lovely community and any help would be greatly appreciated!
