Ok I’ve narrowed down to these two settings by Vatche in platinum. The picture is of the engraved. I would appreciate any and all comments on pros and cons on engraved vs. smooth. The diamond will be approximately .75 carat princess. My concerns are cleaning and polishing the engraving vs. smooth. I’m not really sure which one my GF would like more. This is so hard for me to decide, I want her to be absolutely thrilled. Thank you all so much for this great forum.

personally, i''d prefer smooth but I''m not your GF. I just think smooth plain solitaire is always a classic...

Smooth.

Thritto smooth.

There must be an echo in here since I vote for smooth also. I''m not sure how the engraving would hold up with wear over the years.

Cinco for smooth.

Thanks for all the replys. I liked the engraved but thought it was a little much. Again thank you.

I like the smooth as well. It''ll always be a classic and "in style".

One other comment I might throw out there is the diamond sits lower than most typical settings. If you couple with a wedding band, then the wedding band will have a slightly curve/twist in it so it can fit around the center stone. Of course you have to be the judge rather you like that or not, but at least you''ll be aware.

Another vote for smooth. Although in theory I always would think that carving would make a ring more unique & interesting, I really like metal to shine, and my wedding ring, which has carving, tends to look a bit dull to me in certain lighting because of the carving. Also, if you get her the carving, depending on whether she''s a ''matchy'' girl or not, the carving may limit her more in her choice of wedding band.

Definiteyl smooth!
