First, great place as a resource for those who know nothing about rings such as myself.

I''ve been looking at rings on mondera and bluenile and have noticed mondera a lot cheaper on similar diamonds. It doesn''t make sense to me of such a big difference between two pretty decent size companies.

I was looking at two diamonds in particular linked below. Is there something I''m not seeing that explains the huge price difference to me?

http://www.bluenile.com/diamonds_details.asp?__fun_frm=i&pid=LD01066256&filter_id=1

thanks so much!

Well, I am not sure which search you ran but I came up with a couple cheaper ones with good polish or symmetry and then this one of comparable quality to my quick review of it

slightly more expensive

I am sure the best deals fluctuating according to what happened to be aquired or available, etc...

Thanks for the links, Finding Neverland.

A few thoughts...

1) Some normal variability....do a comparison with others...but with more identical parameters. For example...
2) the BN option says: signature...not just ideal. It suggests its actually a) in stock, and b) has been reviewed by somebody there for their consideration. So maybe you're paying a premium for this particular aspect
3) still...read broadly about a) princesses, b) light performance for them and c) AGS's certification of them. Independent of signature or cut grade...and particularly at BN at least, where you can readily see the exact image of their certs....I would tend to opt for a princess only rated as "good," but receiving an AGS0...and though I haven't reviewed the comparative pricing aspect, it's possible you'd get a discount for this misattribution on their part.

Regular Guy - like this one perhaps? It''s rated as "good" by BN but gets AGS000. And being 0.97ct, it won''t have the 1ct premium. Might be a good one to look into...

thanks for the feedback. So the $1,200 looks like its attributed to a ''signature ideal'' cut vs just an ideal cut?

If you don''t mind the warmer color, that one is a steal for what it is.

I''d say go to #1 first...

I''d want to get more data, and have a) more examples, first and b) tighter matches between stones, before I jump to assuming #2 below...though, yeah, two is an option

Just so you know what I do think, though...I think point #3 is the main one...and the example neatfreak points to...among other like options, points to it...
