WARNING LONG FIRST THREAD:
I want to first start by saying how much I’m enjoying browsing through this forum. It is full of knowledgeable contributors and is really informative… especially for a newbie like myself.
Currently, I am pricing a diamond bezel for the Super Avenger model Breitling. So I pretty much have 2 options… I can either go OEM (original manufacturer) or I can go the aftermarket route. If I were to get the OEM bezel from Breitling, it would have VS1 stones equaling 1.23 carats. I have to find out the color. I believe I counted 86 stones total. This would cost me between 5000 and 6K. That seems like way to much to pay. Although there seems to be a quality problem with the aftermarket ones. At least with most of, if not all of the ones the ones that I''ve seen.. I can provide pictures to show the quality difference between the OEM and aftermarket ones. I have to figure since I’m in New York City there should be someone on 47th street who can make it better than what I’ve seen out there. Especially if I use the OEM bezel (no diamonds) which isn’t that expensive. I am almost sure Breitling uses the same bezel and just puts diamonds in it.
I have (almost) decided to go the aftermarket way, partially because I want side placement diamonds on the bezel, but mostly because I think its a rip off. This brings me to my questions…Is there anybody someone can recommend in NYC to buy the diamonds from at a fair price? I would like smallish stones with the quality being equal to or better than the ones used by the manufacturer. Is there anyone that can be recommended to me in NYC that can do the setting for the bezel? I would like the setting done with high quality and precision.
