HELP no GIA

AGS is the other major lab with a good reputation. AGS has a much finer cut grade scale than does GIA. Far fewer stones hit AGS 000 than hit GIA excellent. This stone was sent to AGS because the cutter knew it would make the coveted 000.

It is also a Whiteflash "A Cut Above" stone, which means that it met yet another higher set of standards.

What you need to worry about is whether the stone actually exists, is in good condition, and whether you will actually get it if you pay for it.

You can compare it to other "A Cut Above" stones on Whiteflash's website.

I guess you could argue that you could get more bang for the buck by going down in color or whatever but this is already an extreme E-bay bargain, assuming it's real.

It looks like there is abrasion on the top of the table facet…

The pictures are bad, the stone looks dirty....but if it is undamaged and is indeed the stone in the AGSL report, then it is a Whiteflash 'A Cut Above' top of the line, IDEAL cut high color grade F and VS2 in a 2 1/2 ct....should be BIG Beautiful Bright Brilliant Diamond.

I don't know the ebay seller, never purchased anything that expensive on ebay....others have, maybe they will chime in. I am not sure how I would handle such a purchase. Could you use a 3rd party to verify the stone?

I don't know the chain of command of ownership of this diamond, but whomever purchased it from Whiteflash could have used their buy back policy and sold it back, don't know at what percent or what original cost was....looks like a 2.5 F VS2 in an Super Ideal would be over $45K.......what is it worth???? wow, and they are taking offers.

Just wanted to point out because diamonds jump in price dramatically at certain sizes.

Diamond is only 2.46 not 2.5 according to the grading report.

OK, my bad...ad states 2.5 somewhere, but yes a 2.46 and still $45K

How you figure that?...

Fwiw, I have a family member who lives not far from this seller (Lovelady Diamond) and I have seen his ads in the local newspaper when I have been there -- always for buying jewelry from the public. He's a long-established, one-store jeweler. I've not been to his store personally nor do I know anyone who has, but he does advertise all the time to buy gold and jewelry. (interestingly, he doesn't seem to advertise to sell anything nor does eh market any specific brand names or designers/stones etc...always just to buy stuff.)

Wish I had more info but at least I can attest to the fact that he does have a real shop/office in a real location. Good luck!

Diamond sellers always round these things up. 2.46 is close enough to 2.5.

There aren't any real comparables on WF right now but there's a smaller F VS1 for 44K. So if it is in good condition the price is a bargain.

So no concern that it does not have GIA?I did go on Whiteflash...they will give you 70% for the first year if you want to return it... but after that there is no guarantee and they can offer you whatever they want.I have actually bought a diamond of off ebay before and was tremendously lucky but I had an independent third party look at the stone before I wired the money. And he also told me that the dimensions of the stone on the GIA report are so specific that it is difficult to just substitute another stone...with only the AGS thing is it equally difficult to switch the stones?

figure what?....Whiteflash has a GIA 2.46 F VS2 $44295 wire...so I concluded that via...so I asked myself what would a AGSL Ideal 'A Cut Above' 2.46 F VS2 wire price be...uh $45K or more?

That is why you would want to make sure you get what you think you are buying. If I could not purchase in person and have a qualified appraiser verify the stone as well as the condition, I would be cautious...maybe contact the seller, work something out that is comfortable for both.....see if seller has references, due diligence.

No, AGS and GIA lists the dimensions the exact same way. However, AGS reports carat weight to the thousandth, so X.XXX, while GIA only lists the hundredth, X.XX

Wow, what a find! If only I was in the market for something that size....
