Hi everyone!
I have had the offer of a diamond soliatire ring in a white gold setting. It is about 8 years old and came originally from America. It has an EGL rating which is as follows:
1.51 ct, round brilliant, color F, clarity 11, Measurements 7.12 - 7.06 x 4.5mm
Depth 63.6, Table 61.0, Crown 13.7, Pavilion 42.1, Girdle Medium to thick faceted, Polish good, Symmetry Good, Fluorescense strong blue, cutlet none.
The asking price is £1550 which I thought was very good for a stone that big, I would be interested to hear what you think. The problem is that the stone has no sparkle and looks for all the world like a lump of glass. The seller is 100% genuine and we tried to wash it in warm, soapy water but it still made no difference. We also held it under a variety of different lights but there was none of that sparkle that I thought was charactoristic of diamonds. It was definitely a diamond as I scratched a small, handbag mirror that I had with me. So my questions are - is this dull fish look what you would expect from a stone with 11 clarity? What do you think of the price?
I have never owned a diamond before and this ring would be an engagement ring for me. Approaching 60 rapidly, I have finally found Mr Right and I do not want the wrong ring!
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!
