Hi Everyone,
I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on the following princess cut diamond:

Table 67%
Polish VG
Symmetry VG
Flor: None
Girdle thin to medium
Culet none
Measurements 7.29x7.05x4.92 mm
L/W:1.03
Total Depth: 4.92 mm 69.8%
Pavil. Depth: 3.89 mm 55.3%
Pavil Angle: 57.6 °
Crown Height 0.86 mm 12.2%

Girdle: 1.1% thin to medium
Culet OffCenter:
0.09 mm
Table OffCenter:

Table OffCulet:

The stone comes out as a 1B preimuim cut according to Dave Atlas. However, the only reason it''s not 1A is because of the higher crown. I have heard a higher crown is actually a good thing.

Pls advise.

dear crgr,

with princess cuts, the measurements alone are not enough. with all due respect for mr atlas, 1A/1B ect is thus totally irrelevant.

the measurements, in combination with length & width of very specific facets in the pavillion, is what matters. /www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]>/www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]>

crown % & angles are not that important with princess cuts. for princess cuts below 1ct it is even better to have a slightly shallow crown in combination with a slightly larger table./www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]>/www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]>

ideally, pav % should be somewhere between 55 & 60% however slight deviation of that could be very nice as well (always depending on how facets are polished in pav section!)/www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]>/www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]>

look at the stone in face-up position:/www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]>/www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]>

if light return (&sparkling) is very uniform, then you have the right stone./www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]>/www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]>

if however you can see ‘windowing’ then percentages & angles won’t matter!!! ‘windowing’ is typically caused by too long & large facets in pav area causing light to escape and = very easy to see face-up…/www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]>/www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]>

this sounds a little subjective but should you have windowing, you would now recognize it immediately./www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]>/www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/3.gif[/img]>

good luck, robbe
