I am planning on purposing in a few months so I have started seriously looking at rings and stones. I listen when she mentions her likes and dislikes, plus she has a Pinterest

I am looking for a 2.0-2.5 carat cushion with the following specs:

Color: D - E
Cut: the best I can get in my budget
Clarity: VS1 or better. I will consider SI1 if it is extremely eye clean.
Shape: Square. I'd like to keep the l/w ratio less then 1.05.
Budget: $20k +10% if there is an exceptional stone out there.

I appreciate any and all help.

The ring will look like this but with a slightly wider band.

Yekutiel at ID Jewelry is doing a similar ring for my nephew which will be done in a few weeks. I would reach out to him to see if he can source a stone within your specs and budget. Or, maybe some of the experts will chime in with recommendations. Good luck. :wavey:

I'd make the clarity VS2 and higher rather than VS1. I'd also at least include F color because cut is the most important factor in a diamond's beauty, and you don't want your range so narrow that you'd have to settle for a less than great cut.

Two that look beautiful:

I meant to type VS2 and D-F for color. I guess I was too worried about the picture attaching correctly. Thanks for the heads up.

Both of those stones look very nice. Does the L/W ratio = 1.00 make the second one "more desirable" thus more expensive? If so that is not important to me. I dont think many people would be able to tell that a stone is not a square with a L/W ratio of 1.05.

No. Square doesn't mean better.

Here are some nice options for you.

https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/Cushion/GIA-Certified-2-21-Carat-F-Color-VS2-Clarity-Diamond-3DM85L Big, beautiful, at budget and ticks all your requirements, and has excellent light performance confirmed with an ASET. Number one pick.

Second choice:
https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/Cushion/GIA-Certified-2-01-Carat-F-Color-SI1-Clarity-Diamond-5VGPBJ

Put any 'maybe' stones on hold ASAP. We have lurkers.

I really like the first one, it is exactly what I'm looking for! Thank you.

I will get it put on hold ASAP.

I set up an appointment with a local jewelry store and gave them the same specs I posted here to have some stones to look at. They had two beautiful stones for me to look at but both were more then I told them I wanted to spend.

I have attached the GIA reports for review.

#1757 is slightly more rectangular then I was looking for but me girlfriend liked it. This stone is visibly larger then the other stone due to its larger table and less depth.

The #9480 is a G and I could see that it was darker then the F when sitting next to each other. It didn't necessarily have more color but it was darker.

Lab reports tell us nothing. It's all pictures, ASET and faceting with cushions.

My interaction with my local jewelry store has been less then desirable and the stones previously pointed out are long gone so I am back on the search.

I found one stone that I really liked but I slept on it too long and now its gone. https://enchanteddiamonds.com/favorites/diamonds#diamond=C201-7903063Z0

Here is another one I am considering.https://enchanteddiamonds.com/favorites/diamonds#diamond=C220-498421585

I am thinking about broadening my parameters to include more diamonds because there dont seem to be many out there right now that fit my current requirements.

What Im looking for:

Shape: Cushion
Size: 2-2.5 carats
Color: D-G
Clarity: IF-VS2
L/W: >1.06
Budget: $22k

I definitely dont want the "crushed ice" look.

Once again, any and all help will be appreciated. Im not going to let another one slip away.

As soon as they open I will get in touch with them to make certain it is eye clean and get the ball rolling. Thank you for the insight.
