I know the op wanted a full ct, but OP i jut wanted to mention you are lucky, if in fact her finger is 4.5...ALL DIAMONDS WILL LOOK LARGE.

OP, are you still not sure on the setting? Can you show her friend some of the suggestions you like and see if she feels one of them "fits" your intended? I'm personally rooting for the Maevona Fern. Google for some REAL images of the settings. Maevona has a ton of images on their instagram page

ptex - are her rings copper or brass like the rest of her jewelry? I want to help you really nail this down and I'm concerned that we're not quiiite getting the whole story of her taste.

I will also say that Tiffany's now sells their tiffany soli in rose gold. I feel like it's crossed over to be more timeless than trendy

I like this one, I think my GF would also. I also think it looks great in rose gold.... But I like the Fern one too. And now I have just found out there is a green gold, uggggh.

i think its great in rose gold too. I think green gold is a gamble. though interesting, id say leave that out of your search. I think based in her style rose gold seem an option. So does white. if were trying to stay close to your 5k budget and need 1 ct, we may have to explore J colors, and thus, id probably choose rose gold. but indeed before deciding some more sleuthing to make sure thats a safe metal choice.

This - absolutely. Unless she actually says she wants a white metal, I'm not seeing anything in her taste that suggests she doesn't prefer the warmer colored metals. Of course I could be wrong - but it's *really* worth finding out for sure.
With a yellow or rose gold, she could also safely go to a K colored diamond if she set it in a bezel. To give you an example of what I mean - here's my K colored earrings in yellow gold. The contrast would perhaps be ever stronger in rose gold.

To me I think the plain fern without engraving is the best maevona option. It's got bezels, comes in rose gold, and isn't too expensive. The engraving would be nice but not worth how much it would take away from your diamond budget.

I also like the brilliant earth one bit their diamonds are a little $$$

I wear a k, but I'd be safe and get a J or higher.

Ditto all this. i would not go platinum, looking at her current jewelry i cannot see why she would suggest it. :confused:

So to alleviate maybe the headache of buying a stone and setting separately, i do wonder if ID Jewelry could get you the Maevona setting and source you a stone as well? Yekutiel seems to be pretty amazing at finding beautiful stones within budget. just throwing that out there...
