Help needed for David Klass reset

IDK kayla. I LOVE this setting and if I were having it made I would want to keep it as close to the original as possible. That goes for the prongs too.
Adding additional prongs imo will throw the design off.
I know. I saw this and was so upset I didn’t snag it when Diane first listed it. IG is so dangerous! But I also feel I need to make this setting my own as I don’t want to copy it exactly.

I adore this setting ... can't wait to see your completed ring, which will be gorgeous!
Thanks! I loved it when I first saw it.

This is gonna be sooooo beautiful!!

I vote for:

6 very flat tab prongs (think antique-looking, wider, but almost flush against the girdle type)
I really like that the piece meets the prongs at 9 and 3. More prongs kinda messes with the whole aesthetic to me.

All platinum. There is a lot going on, and I feel the two tones may be a little... busy. :halo:

I’d keep the height as low as possible, keeping with the antique feel.

But whatever you do, I’m sure it’ll be super nice!! Can’t wait to see it!!

Thanks! I can’t seem to find flat tab prongs.
Do you mean something like this.

Yes... or even very petite tabs would look nice.

Heh. Flattered that you drew that out! An yup! That's exactly it, except more evenly dispersed, since you don't need a "phantom" prong space at 12, 3, 6, and 9 ;P So same spacing as a traditional 8-prong, but slightly rotated.

The petal position is an issue though. They probably wouldn't line up :( I feel like the points of the petals would end up falling between two prongs.

@elliefire99 I sent the drawing you made to David. He just sent me this right now.
He did the prongs that you made and he lowered the diamond down to 7 mm.
What do you think??

Oops! Here is the new CAD with 8 prongs aligned differently and the diamond set lower.

Much better alignment for the 8 prong! Tough choice now

@kayla17 It looks good! Definitely better than the previous orientation. I guess it's honestly just up to you at this point! If you prefer 6 or 8 prongs...

It will be beautiful either way!

For me, part of the elegance and grace of this design is where the shoulder *stem* integrates to a prong at 3 and 9 o’clock. However, only you can decide the elements that will make you happy.

Okay. I sent this to David. I asked for the red areas to be removed and the lighter green area to be a tad higher bc that’s where my diamond wedding bands will hit and I don’t want it to eat away the milgrain.

So far I’m going with the new 8 prong alignment, all platinum and triwire with the diamond set at 7mm.
I did ask David if I can see a CAD of the undergallery since we haven’t really discussed it.
Also I’m going to check out vintage prongs on Art Deco websites to get an idea of what they should look like.

And here is a ring I found with the same 8 prong orientation.

I know. Me too! I love that design element. But I want the 8 prongs more I think. I figure as long as I make them small enough then it won’t matter. I’m still undecided.
With the original 8 prong orientation I can still
Have the prongs at 3 and 9 o’clock. It would just be those two sticking out at 12 and 6 o clock.
So I just need to figure out which I like better.

I like the 8 prongs, can’t wait to see what you decide!

Any update? I’ve been wondering if you are resetting your gorgeous diamond!

No, I’m starting to love my current setting more. Especially since I got the French cut band with it. It just seems like a perfect match and I don’t want to jump onto a new setting especially since I’m not really sure what I want.

Have we seen the French cut band? Would love some pics!

They look great together!!
