Just bought my engagement ring from Bidz.com. 3stone ring 1 carat total. The color is G-H, but the clarity is I1-I2. Lots of fractures and spots that need to be removed and filled. Does anyone know a place I can have this serviced that wouldn''t cost me an arm and a leg?
Thanks everone

Hi Gwen!

Could you return the ring and start again? That might be best, rather than trying to improve these diamonds. Unfortunately, to the best of my knowledge, not all diamonds are suitable for enhancements, in my non expert opinion, I believe there are 2 methods such as fracture filling for feathers and lasering to lighten dark inclusions, so if you have a mix of both, you will need expert advice as to whether it is possible, worthwhile, cost effective, if so, which method/s to use, or whether you would be just better off returning the ring and starting over, if that is still possible.

But if you want to pursue the enhancement possibility, you could contact www.yehuda.com as they specialise in fracture filling I think, and if their process isn't suitable for all the diamonds, they may be able to refer you for lasering if needed, if they don't offer that service themselves. Also Wink Jones who posts here may be able to offer you some advice if you contact him - www.winkjones.com If you see the bottom thread, he helped a client get a diamond lasered so he might know of someone who could help you.

Here is Woobug's experience of clarity enhancement - https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/woobugs-marquise-enhancement-looks-great.44144/

Here is a thread you might find interesting also. https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/laser-drilled-diamond-before-after.64935/

But I would really consider returning this ring if you can, especially as any treatment is going to cost money, put that towards another ring with stones that are eyeclean. As this is to be your engagement ring, it is well worth getting a ring you are proud of and love. Have you considered buying online from a professional diamond vendor?

Hi Gwen - I would have to agree with Lorelei I''m afraid. It would be much better to return the ring for a refund and start again.

Personally, I would be inclined to spend the same money on smaller, better quality diamonds if this is the trade-off that has to be made - but it may well be that you can buy something very similar online for similar money, but with better diamonds in.

If you could show us a picture of the ring, and let us know your budget we can give you an idea of what else you could buy instead. We would all love to help you. :)

The problem with trying to ''fix'' an included diamond is that it''s kind of a bit like throwing good money after bad (IMHO). You can never increase the value of the diamond which you bought, as the price of clarity enhanced diamonds is always based on the original, natural clarity - so you aren''t adding any value to the stone by paying to have it enhanced.

I agree that the best option is to replace the diamond if this is possible, however, if not you can go here http://vyou.pricescope.com/player.aspx and select A Diamond for Drilling to see just how dramatically a diamond''s appearance can be altered.

There are two parts, one and two. If you just want to see the before and after you can start with part two.
