Help! Need second opinions on lab oval! I see pink?!

Hi everyone! I've been a long-time lurker, but this is my first post. I recently treated myself to a 1.28ct E color lab oval set in a halo. As soon as I opened the box, I noticed it had a very faint pink tint. I know diamonds are like little windows and mirrors so I thought maybe it was reflecting something. I moved to shaded sunlight under a tree...yep, still a faint pink. I am very color sensitive, but I expected a cooler white given that it’s graded as an E. I know IGI doesn't have the same stringent standards as GIA so I paid a GIA certified gemologist to evaluate it. He said it is more like an H...and that light pink tint I see is actually brown. He also pointed out that the halo was crooked. I just sent it back to have the halo fixed (hoping it is recast), but now I'm wondering if this was even a good purchase to begin with? I see faint pink mostly in my car, my gray bedroom, and outdoors.

My questions:
-Is this diamond even well-cut enough to keep it?
-Does this pink (really brown) tint make this lab stone less desirable?
-Is it normal for IGI to be off by 3 color grades?! An E vs an H seems like a stretch!

….basically, should I keep it? I have until 1/13 to decide. I like pink and sparky things…just not sure about pink in a diamond! Thanks for any input or advice!

(first picture- nice and white, next two pictures- slight pink/brown which is really hard to capture). 21EC9800-605D-4C21-A899-227B0245D194.jpeg139FA78C-768B-4E22-AC42-46E560EB5977.jpegBDCC6BBB-6B1C-4FBF-906C-E6FB4BEF1834.jpeg

It looks beautiful!
HPHT colorless with no boron/blue nuance, no nagging bowtie effect, nice brilliance.
Is there anything in pink to red color range in the environment that the pictures were taken, even if it's clothing being worn, a phone case, artwork, furniture, a throw blanket, etc?

Thanks so much for your reply! Nope, only thing pinkish would be my overwashed hands

I don’t really know that we can tell you whether it’s worth keeping or not. It really depends on if you like the tendency for this diamond to show a pink tint in certain lighting conditions.

The diamond itself looks beautiful and so is the setting. I’m biased because my diamond has a faint brown tint and I picked it specifically for it’s pink tint. So I would keep it, but definitely spend some time with it in all different lighting conditions, that will help you decide.

Im wondering if it's your skin tone coming through the pavilion a slight bit.
Do you have a ring box that you can put it in and take pictures to see if the colored felt/velvet has the same effect on the diamond?

I don't see any pink in the photos

It also looks like there is more color than what an E should have. It could just be skin tone peeking through the middle/bow-tie area of the diamond... but it doesn't look like your skin tone; it looks brownish.

Maybe that’s it!? Here is a picture I took in the car before boxing it off for repairs (little to no color). Also including a picture of it outdoors in shaded light (slight tint visible).

A gemologist said it is closer to a GIA H color. Definitely doesn’t face up as an E all of the time. Thanks for your input!!

I think that's it!
Nowhere near a GIA H color, because your diamond is colorless. GIA E-F, in my opinion.

Here are GIA H ovals for you to compare:

Hello pink and sparkly. Look carefully at the grading report and check in the comments bos. Does it say "Indications of Post-Growth Treatment"? Often during the final stages of bringing a LGD to market there are certain processes that can give a diamond (though colorless) a slight pink or grey (or sometimes brown) hue in certain lighting conditions.

In many cases people enjoy this because it adds to the "character" of the diamond - but, either way, it should be indicated on the grading report.

It's a beautiful stone!

So glad to see Friendly Diamonds here on the forum!

It’s a beautiful stone - enjoy its character! (though tbh I can’t really see any “colour” in it. )
