Diamonds can only work with the lighting they have available, if the light is dim then they do move into ' rest mode' which is normal, some room lighting does not show diamonds off to their best advantage.Date: 7/24/2009 11:44:19 AM

Ok, I have been able to view the 1.26 ct. diamond and had a few questions. The scintillation is amazing on this stone. When held in certain lighting, such as room lighting the diamond almost appears to vibrate. The fire is very intense as well. But sometimes the diamond appears to have a dark appearance and not very bright white in room lighting when viewed face up. The diamond appears pretty white in sunlight, but at certain angles it can take on that dark appearance as well. Is this normal?
Many well cut diamonds go dark in some lighting conditions such as bright sunlight also, they can look blackish - this is also normal. It can be disconcerting to see this effect if you haven't seen many diamonds in person and notice this, it worries a lot of posters here when they first encounter it. I am not concerned as the diamond has excellent proportions and it sounds as if you are happy with in in most lighting conditions. I have seen many diamonds in person and this sounds normal to me, but if you aren't sure get an appraiser with some skill in evaluating cut to run an eye over it. But if you are happy with the stone then don't overthink it, remember a diamond is entirely dependant on the available lighting it has and it will show different behaviours and appearances according to the light. Make sure it is clean at all times to so you get the best out of it.
