Help me pick out diamond to match 3.5 size setting

My girlfriend is from Taiwan and her ring size is 3.5. I am looking to spend around or less than $2,000 total.

This is the ring setting I picked out: http://www.jamesallen.com/engagemen...ite-diamond-accent-engagement-ring-item-50124

I think around a .5 carat diamond would match best. I am pretty clueless when it comes to picking out the diamond. There were two suggestions provided to me previously but they are now both sold out:
1. http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.46-carat-e-color-vvs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-301042
2. http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.50-carat-i-color-vs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-617675

I previously started a thread about buying the ring from costco and resizing it but understand now that it will be better to buy direct from JA since Costco doesn't sell anything close to size 3.5. Here is the previous thread if anyone is curious: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/re-sizing-costco-ring-from-7-to-3-5.215599/#post-3921875#p3921875

Thanks for your help in advance :)

So I was going to post a setting from blue Nile, but then I see I already had before on your other post. Did you not like that one? I couldn't tell if you turned it down or not

Sorry for not responding to your previous post. I don't like that Blue Nile setting as much as the JA one. If I were to pick a setting from BN it would be this one: http://www.bluenile.com/build-your-own-ring/petite-diamond-engagement-ring-14k-white-gold_42029?elem=title&track=product

Thanks OK, I wanted to make sure you saw it was all :wavey:

Can you get the "referral " discount code from JA?

I ask just becuase I want to make sure if your budget is 1500 or 1400

I've never heard of a referral discount for either JA or BN. How do I get that?

If you Google "refferal James Allen" or "refferal blue Nile" its essentially an email code you'll get if you have one email account email another email account. If you have two emails its pretty easy to get the codes. I don't know if you're in the US but in the US you can get 100 off a purchase of 1000+

Thanks!

Does that work for you? So is your stone budget 1500?

Yes, that setting works for me. My max budget is $2000 for stone + setting. I think the diamond you posted before is pretty good http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD06142609

Is there a noticeable difference between that diamond and one that might cost $400-$500 more?

Of the two settings I think I prefer the James Allen one let me look and see what's out there now on James Allen. Sense we can see the stones we might be able to give a little in clarity grading to get a whiter diamond.

James Allen lets you get three diamonds to have someone pull and review for you. Here are some I would pull. Ask for idealscope images and post them here

http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.50-carat-d-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-630340

Specifically ask if this is eye clean, the effect of the fluorescent... It could be overblue, or it could be just look so white in some lighting its almost blue-white

Nice diamond, nice color. Nice price. Again, is it eye clean, can that spot at the corner be covered by a prong?

http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.50-carat-g-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-634121

Get some size and clarity and a fair price

Thanks. I just sent them a message. I'll let you know what they respond. How long does this normally take them to do?

Well, that was fast. They just responded:

We do offer gemologist inspection to the top three of your diamond choices. That being said, not all diamonds qualify for these services as some diamonds are with our diamond vendors outside US and therefore not available for this service. These diamonds do not have a butterfly mark at the bottom right of the diamond video. Therefore the first diamond 630340 will qualify for the inspection, while he other two will not. The two diamonds 364121 and 634141 will definitely be eye clean and the inclusion on the crown can easily be covered with a prong.

Would you like to look for other diamonds that are located within NY for the gemologist inspection? Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns. We are also available 24/7 for your convenience.

Well rats. Bit the d is the one with the most questions so I would say yes to that, then let me see if I can find 2 more, even though I would say still keep those two in the running.

These maybe?

Not as crazy about this one but as you said she is Taiwan and there are some Asian cultures that value high color,I say maybe this one too.

I can have them look at the first one from your previous post (630340) and the last one in this post (554962) but they can't look at 634140 since it doesn't have the butterfly mark at the bottom right of the diamond video. Should I just have them look at these two?

Sure. If neither work, we can then consider one of the few we found that they can't get idealscopes for.

This is the response I got:

Thank you for your patience while waiting for the gemologist inspection and Ideal-scope of diamonds 630340 ($1,440) and 554962 ($1,450). You’ll find the Ideal-scopes attached to this email.

I am pleased to inform you that diamond 554962 ($1,450) is a gorgeous, eye clean diamond. It is a true ”F” color that faces up white. This diamond has excellent brilliance, making it best out of the pair. Fluorescence will not have any visual impact to the average eye. Although “Strong Blue” is stated on its certificate, the grading is a little hard for the fluorescence the diamond has.

Diamond 630340 ($1,440) is a beautiful choice as well. It is a true “D” color that faces up whitest of the pair and is eye clean. This diamond has excellent brilliance, though our gemologist thought diamond 554962 ($1,450) performed just slightly better. This diamond has a “Strong Blue” fluorescence, though it does not have a lot of visible effect on the diamond.

I am confident that diamond 554962 ($1,450) is the perfect diamond for you. Being ranked top out of the two by our gemologist, this diamond is sure to provide you that gorgeous fire and brilliance every girl dreams of.

I actually ended up buying a ring from Blue Nile because the one from James Allen wouldn't ship until October 6th. I couldn't wait that long to receive it.

This is the ring I purchased: http://www.bluenile.com/build-your-own-ring/petite-diamond-engagement-ring-14k-white-gold_42029
Diamond: http://www.bluenile.com/build-your-own-ring/diamond-details/LD06084000

Thanks for your help.

So how does the diamond look to you? Did you give it to her yet?

I won't receive it in the mail until next week.

Sorry to bring this up late but only trying to be helpful. Do you know if your girlfriend has a color preference and also what the color of the side stones are as I saw you selected center stone is an H. Having lived in the U.S. Europe and now Asia I am struck by how different places value different aspect more. No doubt cut first but US cares more about big size, Europe goes smaller but high clarity (E, VS is scoffed at a bit since it should be E, VVS) and. Asia want very colorless (D,E). I notice that Asians (being one myself) in all geographies (e.g., consumers and Asian jewellery stores) aim for high color.

All this to say if high color is really important to her, H may not be the way to go. And if you aren't sure her preference then maybe try to find out.

Color was the one thing she asked me to go a bit higher on when I was originally looking at I. She asked for H :)
