I bought a peridot at the gem show earlier this year. It's my birthstone and all I didn't have any. So I want to put this stone into a ring, and am now looking for a setting. First, pictures of the stone!

It's 3.52cts and about 9x9mm. There are a lot of pictures because I don't feel like any one or two of them really capture it.

This one shows the tilt window (the thing on the bottom edge is a really aggressive reflection):

So, ideally, I don't want to spend more than about $300. I think I may have to go up to $400 though to get anything. The only thing I absolutely do not want is a halo. I think the tiny facets of halo diamonds would compete with the bigger ones of the peridot, and I want the peridot to be on display. I haven't decided yet between yellow or white metal. I'm allergic to nickel, so most white gold is out. I'm not opposed to silver, but I haven't really been able to find any silver settings. LOGR can do all of their settings in palladium, so I'm considering that. But I'm kind of leaning toward yellow gold? I also don't like ring heads that are sticky-outy, like the classic solitaire setting. I dunno, I feel like the head of the ring could FALL OFF AT ANY SECOND. Which is completely irrational, I know, but I like there to obviously be some metal holding it together (haha, opposite most PSers).

So I've looked at LOGR, Lanbo, and on DB and these are the settings I like most:

LOGR flowery cushion - I like the shape of the setting on this one, but don't really like the pave. This is my favorite so far though.

LOGR loopy sides - again, not so fond of the pave (in part because I've heard I have to upgrade it to make it sparkly?). I've seen some people with this setting on PS, and it's pretty.

LOGR swirly sides - twice my price range but such a pretty style. I don't mind the pave on the shank, but the pave on the swirly bits makes them look diseased.

LOGR boxy thing - I actually don't mind the pave on this one, but I'm afraid it would just look like I have a box on my finger. I do like the double prongs though!

Lanbo with baguettes - I like this one, but again am afraid it may look like I have a box on my finger.

Lanbo leaf setting - I really like this one, but I think once I get the pave upgraded and the head changed to fit my stone it would be out of my price range.

DB semi-mount - I'm not clear on whether it's only the fishtail prong head that can go up to 8mm or the thing in general, so I contacted the seller.

Thoughts? Other suggestions? Don't be afraid to tell me if I need to just save up more money in order to get what something decent!

I like your first one, the LOGR flowery setting. I've always wanted to set a stone in that. But if you'd like something simple without a halo or pave, you could have it set in a simple bezel ring. I'd probably go for a yellow gold bezel on a silver band to complement the stone's color while saving money. Jill Anish (janishjewels on etsy) does lovely bezels with a very fast turnaround time.

Thanks for the suggestion! I had entirely forgotten about JanishJewels. I'm not sure that I want to set this in a bezel, but I have a tsavorite garnet cabochon on the way that would probably be amazing in a bezel setting with the gold twist around it. I made an offer on the LOGR setting and he accepted it, so now I'm just waiting to be done with finals before buying it.
