Hi everyone,

I am a lurker on pricescope and have started my Journey on finding the perfect diamond for my future fiance!

I am currently looking at this specific diamond from whiteflash

https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3858587.htm

The reason why I want to go with whiteflash is because Of the cut. i really want the brilliance to really go bling bling when my fiance enters the room.

Now i have a jeweler in Orange county, called South Coast Jeweler who is able to offer me the following diamond below for 11500.

https://www.gia.edu/report-check?reportno=6271243572

i really like this one also but not sure if this one will really stand out and flash like the whiteflash one above. would love to have everyones input...

So that diamond your jeweler showed you was cut right to the edge of the GIA excellent range. Most stones nowadays are in fact cut right to the line to get the maximum weight and still hit the excellent. The excellent range was determined by showing people a bunch of stones and asking which ones they liked, which means at least some people would like that stone, but it's not going to be the sort of extraordinary performer that the ACA would be.

Crown angle on the jeweller’s offering is well above what is considered to be an ideal cut. It’s been cut to retain weight and just creep into the GIA Excellent cut grade.

The WhiteFlash stone is far better. A much more superior stone.

Another WF vote. I will go with the cheaper one, the difference in size is minimal.
The other “local” stone does not have a good crown plus pavilion angle combo.

Thanks everyone for the input. I am a little concern about the plot table on the 1.408 round from whiteflash... the one from the jewler seems much cleaner.

when i saw the diamond from the local jewler it didn't really show its brillance much...

i really do want a aca from whiteflash but just trying to get the bang for my buck.

since its a G color, do you think the G will shine more than the D?

The WF diamond is eye clean and the inclusion won't affect performance-- if it did, it wouldn't have made the ACA cut. I have an SI2 crafted by infinity and I haven't been able to find the inclusions with a 20x loupe.

WF probably has a better upgrade policy too, in case you need it later...

I also vote for the WF stone

Color or lack of such doesn’t make a diamond shine more or less, cut does and WF has superior cut.
Why don’t you have a WF rep pull out both stones and compare them for you. Honestly, 1.408 will probably be ok in real life, but I think that some of the inclusions are reflecting throughout which may be noticeable in the profile. The other option is safer, so if you can afford it, go with that one.

thanks for the input everyone, i know i won't purchase until mid feb to mid march of 2018 so i have time. these stones most likely will be gone by then but at least i have a start on where to go!

I know she wants a verragio setting and i already know which one she wants so just got to find the perfect stone!

i want as close to 1.50 as possible but not the 1.50 mark as it just bumps the price up a lil too much. haha.

do you guys think there will be more options towards january and feb?

Check the mm sizes rather than carat weight, it's more helpful, I think.

I would assume they get more supply after the holiday rush...

Possible that inventory will be refreshed but in Feb you have to worry about inventory being slammed again for Valentine’s Day.

OP if you like something that you can afford now, I say for go for it. But if you need to wait for various reasons, then yes, there will always be other stones to chose from!

Whatever you do, be sure to propose within the return period, in the event you need to make a change you will be able to do so without issue.

I certainly would go with WF! There’s no telling what they will have in March. They get in new stones every few weeks, so you’ll just have to start looking the moment you are able to buy.

Just to address the question of our future inventory levels, we have regular supply arrangements with our cutters although their rough varies to some extent. We do our best to keep a balanced inventory based upon sales history and trends. It's not an exact science because of variables that are difficult to predict.
While it is therefore hard to know exactly what we will have in stock in March, I can tell you that we are bullish on 2018 and it is our intention to increase both the depth and breadth of fully vetted on-hand inventory as this is one of our strengths and points of significant differentiation in an industry dominated by virtual inventory sellers.
With regard to Verragio, although our in-stock inventory may vary, we will be able to order any style in any of our designers' catalogs.
Just as an added note, our diamond consultants are kept updated on diamonds in the pipeline as we get information from the cutters regarding details of diamonds in process. This makes it possible for customers who may not be ready yet, to get some idea what to expect (or not expect) in the weeks ahead.

When you are ready reach out to WF and tell one of the consultants what you are looking for. I did this with my recent stud upgrade. My consultant, Magen, was great about keeping an eye on what was coming up before it hit the website so I could get first dibs on what stones I wanted. She even pitched me several that were still being graded but were expected to be of interest to me. It freed me from obsessing over their website constantly.

Another vote for Whiteflash. An ACA will definitely give you more bang for your bucks.

Yet another WF vote. I absolutely love my ACA

Everytime I buy a diamond from a place other than WF - I realise how I would have gotten a better performing stone at only a small (if any) price premium. You can always cut corners and think about an expert selection from WF but an ACA takes out the guessing.

Any jeweller who shows me sub-ideal stones and passes them off as excellent shows that they're in it for the profit margin, not the stone quality.

Another vote for WF...we know the quality of their stones and know that you will get a stone that you love!
Plus they have great service and an excellent trade in policy (actaully, the best I've come across) if you
should ever want to upgrade.

My vote for WF and Magen, she is great patient with me and supports me so much in finding the right stone with limit budget

OP when I first started reading pricescope I was thinking Whiteflash was way above my price range and I went James Allen and then Blue Nile for right hand. I truly wish I had gone Whiteflash. I am going to sell the Blue Nile right hand, the James Allen is simple and beautiful so I will keep that. But I wish I had started with Whiteflash. Just my opinion of course.

I love my WF Aca’s
