Hi All,

I''ve been pouring over this site ever since I got engaged on Christmas. My issue is regarding the ring. I was given a 2.2 G SI1 princess ring which we decided to return, since I have wanted a cushion cut for as long as I can remember. Well...that being said, I have no idea how to choose a cushion and two weeks in have my head spinning! I know numbers tell you nothing, and there are so many different versions of cushions. Our budget is anywhere from 15,000 to 25,000 for the right stone. I know people say size doesn''t tell you much, but I want it over 2 carats for some reason. I don''t want to go below G, but hear that H''s look the same.

Does anyone know who to trust and what to believe? I hate being engaged with no ring, it''s very lack luster : ) At this point I want to run out and throw something on my hand.

I called ERD after reviewing all the recommendations and began working with Gary Friedman (he answered the phone). He found this diamond:

Size 2.3
Color G
Clarity VS2
Cut Brilliant
Pol EX
Sym VG
F None
Dpth 68.3
TblMeasurements 56%
Sq mm 8.04x 7.47 5.1
Ratio 1.08
price 23k

Can I get some feeback on this option, any concerns? Do you think it''s my best value? I have so many other jewelers telling me different things trying to get me to buy from them. I thought picking out my own ring would be fun, but I''m about to throw in the towel, yeeks! Any advice is appreciated : )

What kind of cushion do you like? There''s a lot of variety in cushions...ERD does a great job finding excellent cushions, but it will help us to help you if you tell us what you like

More square, more rectangular?

Modern brilliant facets, chunky old fashioned facets?

There are a ton more variables, but in my mind those are the two biggest...shape and facet pattern/style.
