All I have is a 30x loupe, i cannot seem to find the inclusion, is this mission impossible? If I get another 40x loupe, will it help? Do you guys have any other tips in locating feather inclusion? Thank you!
In such a small VS1 stone, it will be difficult to locate, IMO. Sometimes it helps to rotate the diamond slowly in different lighting. Feathers can appear darker at certain angles.
99% of loupes marketed as 30x are not really 30x and 100% of them suck.
There is just not room in a loupe for quality 30x optics.
Quality 10x loupe very flat and even lighting and you have a chance of seeing it.
If not borrow a jewelers scope most will let you look at a set stone under one if you ask nice.
Just went to my jeweler's last week, and using her scope found the feather in my Asscher - never would have seen it at home - it ran 99% parallel to a facet and was clear. Now back home with what is supposedly a 60x lit mini scope I still can't see it, although occasionally I think I MGHT have briefly spotted it!
