Two years ago members of this forum helped me pick out the perfect promise ring. I am now ready to buy an engagement ring and could use some more help.

Diamong Details:

.65 to .80 carat, round diamond (ideal weight would be .68-.70)
D color
Ideal Cut: AGS 000 required (preferably something in the 1 - 1.4 HCA range)
VVS2 to VVS1 clarity

I don''t currently see any diamonds in the search finder that meet these specifications.

Setting Details:

Platinum (six prong mounting preferred for added security)
She likes the channel set sidestone look

Here is the type of setting she likes:

I''d get that one but am concerned four prongs is not secure enough

Budget: $4000-$5500 (although I''d like to keep it to $5,000).

Since you were here two years ago, I guess I'll spare you the spiel about getting a G/H VS2/SI1 .9 carat stone for that money, right?

"AGS-000" = "AGS Ideal 0" (1) Polish, (2) Symmetry,(3) Proportions and the slang term is still used throughout the industry despite the fact that the AGS Laboratory added a fourth criteria "Light Performance" to their cut grade system back in 2005, which we refer to as "AGS Ideal 0" but seeing it referred to as "AGS 000" again made me wonder whether we can make the "triple zero" vendors spit out something interesting like "quad ideal" or "quad zero" or something fun like that

Note that I''m not directing this question to you henearly89 as a consumer and somebody who is new to the forum, but more as a thought for people who spend a lot of time here on the forum assisting people and answering questions since seeing your use of the "AGS 000" terminology brought this to mind.

I ran a search and there are a few viable GIA graded options out there which are center range zero ideal cut diamonds with excellent polish and symmetry that might be comparable to an AGS graded alternative... I didn''t see any AGS graded options within the range of characteristics that you specified. Keep plugging away via the PS search engine and checking the inventory of the various vendors here - as a vendor, I can''t comment on a specific stone, but I wanted to mention the existence of the GIA options in case you want to expand your search criteria to include them. For round brilliant cut diamonds, I don''t have a preference between the AGS or GIA provided that the chosen vendor is capable of providing a hands-on evaluation with ASET, Ideal Scope, Sarin, Gems Fantasy Scopes, etc. to provide the insight not provided by a standard lab report.
