are you interested in the setting or the whole package including the diamond?

if you like whole ring, you may be able to have a jeweler take out the stone and work on it to shorted the prongs lowering the center stone.

Yes, I'd really like a pre-set ring, and one that is genuine estate or antique. I realize I could have a custom reproduction done, but that's not what I'm looking for.

(Here's the picture for anyone who doesn't want to click on the link above.)

I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!!

I really love this ring, but the center stone is too high for my taste. If anyone can recommend an estate/antique/vintage ring that looks like this I would be eternally grateful!!

Alternatively, do you think it would be possible (and worth it) to lower the center diamond?

Thanks!!
Hi LB

If thats the ring you love, it might be worth asking if the stone could be set lower? I totally see what you mean, the diamond is set rather high but it is possible as Bella suggests that the diamond could be lowered. No harm in asking the seller, its a very pretty setting!

Thanks Lorelei. I think I'll ask. I don't know if they do anything like that in-house though since it is an antique dealer.

Here is a pic of how high the stone is.

You are most welcome!

It is set high in the photo, looks like there is room to drop the diamond somewhat, also it looks as if it isn't set quite straight but it might be possible to put that right too if you ask and it doesn't compromise the integrity of the side diamonds and prongs, they might have an in house jeweller or have a contract bench jeweller who can take care of it.

I would think they could trim the prongs down a bit to lower the stone, but I''m not sure just how much of a difference it will be. That sure is a beautiful ring!

If they don''t do it in house, get estimates from other jewelers you trust and just do it after you get the ring. I really don''t think it will be that difficult...
