I am not sure what this type of pearl necklace is called, but I'll give it a shot. I "think" it's Keishi or cornflake pearls. I recently saw a double strand necklace of these pearls, very large, strung flat with tiny amethyst briolettes scattered throughout the strands. I cannot tell you guys have beautiful this was. I should have bought it on the spot, but didn't. I was at a gem/jewelry show and didn't get the vendors card. The necklace was $650.00 and I had no idea if that was a reasonable price or not. Where can I find something like this? I have searched the net and all I find are small keishi strands that look nothing like the incredible necklace I saw. The necklace below is sorta like what I saw, except in the pic below the pearls themselves are flat, in the necklace I saw, the pearls were very irregular, looking like cornflakes, very large and the colors that baby exhibited blew me away!!

That's right, and plasticky looking, might even be imitation MOP. Seems to be very overpriced.

Yeah, I don't want the "pearls" in the picture, but I want large Keishi pearls in a style similar to the picture ;))

Thought that was odd.

I remember seeing those before... are those natural in shape? I can't remember! I know that I've seen "star" shaped and "square" ones... are those classified as baroque instead? :?:

Keshi are natural as far as not being nucleated, unlike the star or square shapes. Keshi are solid nacre.

Gary at Sunset Pearls on California near Van Ness in San Francisco likely has what you are looking for. He has created some amazing pieces for me over the years and his work is beautiful!

Fly Girl :)

Does that make the round ones a bit more rare then? Considering the shape they have to be vs the one I listed above?

What do you mean by round ones? Have you seen round keshi?

hehe I mean the flat, roundish ones :) vs. the blobby type

I just did an eBay search for "keishi pearl strand" and I did find some pretty white petal ones, as well as many "blobby" ones. So, probably not that rare, but I sure am no expert in rarity of keshi pearls.

now that I think about it I might be confusing myself with coin pearls... that makes sense.

Keshi can come in petal or cornflake shapes.

Here is a pond slime strand from Kojima. http://shop.kojimapearl.com/products/brilliant-pondslime-petal-pearls

A lot of times they seem to be drilled though the center and stacked. http://shop.kojimapearl.com/products/mixed-pink-stacked-keshi-necklace-with-a-baroque-tahitian-black-pearl

I was assuming that bebe was looking for pearls similar to the first picture, but in white.

Flygirl, the pond slime strand is VERY similar to what I want, but only in white and bigger and 2 strands.
And maybe with a gemstone briolette scattered here and there in between the pearls.

I forgot about ebay, I'll check there. I even checked Etsy, but came up short.

I would send an email to Catherine with the picture you posted and see what she could make for you. She seems to use a lot of the cornflake pearls. And if that did not work out talk to Sarah at Kojima she does custom orders too.
