I got my enagement ring from Blue Nile. They have a matching wedding band for the e-ring, but I don''t want to pay 1000 dollars! I am hoping for something around 500 dollars. My e-ring is platinum, but I am pretty sure I won''t find a platinum wedding band that mathces my e-ring for 500 dollars, so white gold will be okay.

Here are some pictures of my e-ring. It''s 1.5 mm wide with pave set diamonds on the band that are a total of .14 ct. It is flat on the bottom and top, so I have to make sure to not get a rounded band if I want them to fit flush (which I do)

Basically, I want the wedding band to look just like my e-ring, except for the center stone, of course!

Any ideas?

$1000 for platinum and diamonds does not sound like a bad price to me. I''m not sure if it is a good idea for the white gold and platinum to be rubbing up against each other. But then again, that just my opinion. BTW, your engagement ring is gorgeous.

Which model is BN ring? Why not just buy the WG wedding band of the same model?

It''s the petite cathedral. Unfortunately, they don''t have a WG version, or else I would definitely do that.

Lovely ring!

I''m sorry I don''t have any wedding ting advice for you, but I do have a question, please.
Do your cathedral "arms" not quite touch the head of the ring (in other words, is there a small air space)? I like the look, but wonder if it "catches" on things, sweaters, etc?

Thanks!

Have you called BN and asked them to make you one in white gold?
I would think they would rather make a sale then have you buy from someone else.

Something like this maybe:

yep- likes that one, pretty close match hopefully- however, you can always return if not.
Nice!! But my only concern is putting a WG band next to platinum. From what I have read that''s a no no...

Is it really that bad??

hmmm, a couple of PSer''s had mentioned before on other threads that they have worn white gold next to plat, or they knew someone that did, and it was not a problem. but I can''t vouch really...hopefully they will chime in though

I thought I had heard that too, but in doing a search, I found this. Maybe it doesn't matter? (see Dave's post)

I would think so too, I know I have asked for certain metal when it was not offered on a vendor''s site before, and it was easy peasy for them to do so.

I''m not saying that it''s impossible, but from my own experience BN is not too accommodating when it comes to special orders. I wanted a ring that they offered in WG to be made in YG. They told me they could not do it.

Yes, there is small air space between the head of the ring and the "arms". I haven't had it ever catch on anything! To be fair, though, I haven't been engaged long enough to go through sweater season. I don't think that it would catch though. The space is fairly small and you would really have to concentrate on getting something between there. I don't think it'd happen naturally!

To those that suggested I ask Blue Nile... I will definitely do that. Not sure if it'd be a whole lot cheaper though. They now offer (didn't when my FI bought it) my setting in white gold and it's only a couple hundred cheaper than the platinum. I will email WF and see if they thing their petite cathedral band will match! Too bad it doesn't have a smaller carat weight so that it is cheaper!

Liliylover,
Thanks for the info. I have always been curious about that.

You know, I've been thinking about your w-band question. I bet you might get lucky if you just start looking EVERYWHERE... even the most unexpected places! Signed Pieces and Pearlmans have their awesome previously-owned sections; check out antique shops, estate jewelry sales, eBay, Ross-Simons (and other mail order places like that)... QVC, Overstock.com, etc... all you need is one perfect little ring... I bet it's out there just waiting for you to find it!

I don''t know if white gold and platinum side-by-side are a big no-no, but have you considered doing your wedding band in palladium? That would at least be in the platinum family so it may not have the same issues, and palladium is also significantly less expensive than platinum.

This ring seems to have a similar look to yours. The platinum is $840, 18kt is $475, and palladium is $315. So well within your budget!
