Help me find a solitaire setting with elaborate basket

I'm going to be purchasing a GIA J color diamond so to hide some of the color I'm thinking of something with an elaborate basket to hide the pavilion. I'd appreciate any designs that could be posted. Preferably no melees as the only diamond my fiance wants is in the center stone. So no pave shank either. I'd also like a fairly low setting.

The ring will be in platinum and I want to stay under $2k but since it's just a plain band I'm hoping closer to $1200. But maybe I can get a jeweler to replicate something if necessary.

Here's a few designs I'm looking at.

CVB has a really pretty one...

She also has this which she can probably make taller to hide more of the stone...

I think I have seen this but without the pave in the basket. I love this setting.

I dont know if any of these would be under $1200 though.

JA has this which is nice and very reasonable but I dont know where you are getting your stone. I dont think they will set outside stones.

I like that design and was considering extending the fleurs so that they acted like prongs. But 8 prongs might be overkill?

Here's some crazy basket designs.

You could probably lower this a bit more. Also might collect a lot of dirt and be a pain to clean.

Extended "fleurs" that don't act like prongs. Happy compromise?

6 prongs with heart basket. Sits quite low.

An ornate basket.

The 360 viewer on the James Allen website (http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/) makes it easy to see each setting's basket. Here are a few with more elaborate baskets:

But - are you sure your GF wants an elaborate basket? Are you sure she doesn't want simple but elegant prongs that echo the simplicity of the solitaire setting? I'm a solitaire girl myself, and I wouldn't want anything more elaborate than that beautiful Danhof setting you posted. A "J" stome might show a little more color from the side than a higher colored stone, but it won't be noticeable to most people, and it's certainly not so noticeable that it needs to be hidden behind a wall of metal!

Here are a few of my faves from the less is more school of design. (I believe Whiteflash will set an "outside" diamond if it's accompanied by a GIA or AGS certificate.)

She wants a somewhat unique design. She said the tiffany style was a little too plain. We looked at various designs and she did like the JA tulip except for the cathedral shank. That happened to be the front runner due to price.

She would love the Danhof or the Dahlia but it looks like they are over $2k in platinum. I think even the one with the extended fleur de lis design would be acceptable.

I wonder if these designs need to be hand forged instead of cast and hence the price increase.

But you bring up some good points and maybe I should get the diamond in hand first to see how much of a tint I notice. There probably isn't any need to hide it behind metal.

I would contact David Klass, can do that through Facebook. Send him some inspiration ideas. His settings are very reasonable and beautiful

David Klass should be able to replicate one of these designs while staying within your budget.

I'll pose a question though. Would you consider reducing the petals down to 6? 8 prongs seems a little busy and maybe alters the round shape of the diamond.

But with 6 prongs it can interfere with the 8 arrows patterning.

Sounds like you might like an "Art Deco" style ring.

I would question though, choosing a setting to "hide" colour. Are you colour sensitive? If so, then consider downsizing a bit and going for a G colour. This would allow you to open up to more settings.

Solgen can I ask who the first picture you posted is by? I like that top view and want to see the rest!
