Please help me find a nice pair of diamond studs. 1cttw. My budget is $1,000, maybe $1,200. I don't mind j/k color and eye clean if possible. They can be loose diamonds.

I just looked up J SI1, and you'll be looking at less than 1 ctw with your budget unless you sacrifice on cut, color, and clarity.

While you don't have to have top of the line diamonds (but I would suggest it isn't a bad idea since they can be traded up later), here is an example pair at .82 ctw:

http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-2960092.htm ($806 " " )

Settings run just under $200, so you are looking at $1800 for a really nice pair.

Or, if trading up is not a consideration, you can get a .75ctw pair of excellent cut stones already set at $1450 with PS/wire discounts. These are H-I SI.

I'll see what else I can find quickly.

Just so you know the reality, you are looking at over $2500 with .5 ct J SI2 diamonds:

Their .40's were really not less than the ones I posted already, either. So I'd recommend saving longer and going with the top WhiteFlash pair since they could be upgraded later if a larger size is appealing to you. But if you want to keep them and not upgrade, the second WF pair is certainly very nice.

I thought you were going to talk to IDJ? Were they not able to find you something in budget?

Sortmon yes actually Luann quoted me a great price but I have not heard back from her for several days so I was exploring other options just in case. I'm hoping Luann didn't change her mind. Maybe I'll hear from her tomorrow. It's hard to communicate since I live in Hawaii and she's east coast. I have to do most communication via e-mail. I have a pair of .5 ctw from Kay's that I bought was I was in my early 20's and not very smart when it came to diamonds. They have a trade up policy but when I look at their 1ct studs they are total crap. They don't sparkle very much and they are very visibly included. Sooooo I don't want to give them another dime of my money! I think I will keep the studs from Kay's and give them to my daughter when she's a little older. My eternity band from IDJ is so beautiful so I'm crossing my fingers that she has some pretty studs for me. I just wanted to consider some other options just in case. Thanks for everyone's help.

I guess I could have worded my title better. Maybe help me search for a back up plan ;)

Also I found a pair at Ritani with setting included that are just under $1,700. They are GIA certified 1ctw XXX SI2 K. Would you go with IDJ uncertified or spend several hundred more for GIA? The K color does not bother me in an earring. I like the idea of IDJ because I really like them, but I'm just wondering if going the certified route is better? Ugh decisions :/

Do you ever want to trade up or resell to buy larger ones? If not, just go with IDJ as long as they are excellent cut and they will guarantee the color to be J (get all in writing and then get them appraised). But honestly, bright stones are important to be seen on the ears, and I wouldn't recommend going under J SI regardless of whether they are certified or not. But as far as certified goes, I'd 1000 times rather have the J SI1 pair from WF at .40 each (or the other pair) over .50 K SI2's from Ritani.

Diamondseeker thank you so much for help! I'll talk to Luann and make sure they are nice stones and if not I'll just go the smaller stone route and upgrade later? Thanks again :)

My understanding is that IDJ does sometimes allow upgrades, so do ask and get it in writing also if they say yes. That way you at least have the option of larger or higher color later if you want it. Good luck and I look forward to seeing them!

Thank you, I'll update when I decide and get them.

I recently bought a pair of very inexpensive studs from IDJ and Luann confirmed that they have an upgrade policy even on their uncerted ones, which I think is amazing! Also, I think they don't work on the weekends, which might be why she hasn't gotten back to you yet.
They work wonders with budgets, so I'd really recommend seeing what magic Luann can do for you. :)

Recordaras thank you! I heard back from her and we are working on something right now. Like I previously stated my eternity ring from them is gorgeous, so I trust that she will find me something nice :)
