Help me find a men's watch please!!

Hey Everybody!

My husband, not a jewelry wearer, would like a watch for christmas/birthday. He's particular about what he wears. Can you offer any suggestions? The criteria would be not too busy (extra dials and stuff), steel or white metal link band, absolutely *no* roman numerals (he's really weird about that!), no two tone metals. I'd like to get him something classic, great quality, preferably under $1000. I know squat about watches! Can any of you sage folks point me in the right direction?
