Hello all,

My brother has asked for my help in finding a diamond for his soon to be fiancee. His budget for the stone is $9000. Cut is most important and we're willing to make some compromises on color and clarity to get an eye catching size. I, myself, have a 2.40 J SI2 which is eye clean and I love it very much. Therefore, I'm looking for H-J, SI1-SI2, 1.50 or above.

I did some cursory searches on Whiteflash, James Allen and Good Old Gold. Found a few great stones but in the $7000 range and less than 1.50. If he has the money to work with, I'd like to use all of it and get more size. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Many thanks!!!

Nice one Niel! Thanks! I'll look into it. A beautiful setting too. I recommended to him that he get a simple setting as she is a dentist and wears gloves all day. Less crevices for thing to get stuck in.

plus i mean if he wants a half ct, he will have to put most in the stone, i imagine.

Yes. The Budget for stone alone is $9000. Then another $1500 for setting.

Nice find Neil! A healthy budget too! I'm in dentistry and I don't wear my rings to work. The gloves are not the problem, it's the frequent hand washing. Gets the ring no matter what full of gunk. Easier to wear them on time off.

Eek I worry if that is an I1 due to questionable durability from the feather. That is one long, long feather running all the way to the girdle.

Buy insurance?

That one from James Allen does look lovely. I didn't see it because I didn't include I1 in my search parameters. I have no problem with the inclusion other than the safety issue. I don't think I want to burden them with the insurance issue. Although they should probably insure it anyway. I don't want them to have an additional reason to worry.

for 9k, I would go for a 1-1.2 caret ags 0 ideal cut. It will look prettier than a larger stone that is dull.

What makes you assume that one from ERD isn't well cut?
