Help me find a diamond, budget around 35k for 2.5 carat RB..

Re: Help me find a diamond, budget around 35k for 2.5 carat

mrb09...just call and tell them you are a PS member and ask them what the discount is for the stones you are considering.

Andy....I just went back and saw that you said you cannot even see the indented natural! That is excellent!

Yes, the 2.52 is the one with the indented natural but it's on the pavillion, and poses no issues. It also faces up the largest, 8.85 x 8.89. I am actually a fan of fluorescence and the extra price discount is a bonus. As for the virtual stone on Bluenile, I can get it for about $39600, as Bluenile offers a 4% discount for Pricescope customers. However, even that stone, I do not know for certain is eye clean from the side or not. Previously I just had assumed all VS2's were eye clean, so didn't ask. I am trying to contact Whiteflash, and see if they had checked that or not.

I don't know... I'd be a lot more concerned about looking at a piece of the stone missing (indented natural) than I would be about inclusions from the underside of the diamond... And with that BN discount, you're at $15,840 per carat--which is $300ish under RAP--so you're getting a "deal".

When did bluenile start offering a ps discount, and how do I access these prices??? Help please

Not sure, but was offered the discount when I submitted a vendor quote from a trusted dealer through Pricescope's homepage back in November.

Hi guys,

To make things even more complicated. I now find a 2.51 VS1 G color stone for around 36k with medium fluorescence. Attached is GIA cert. Will this one be definitely eye clean from all angles since it's a VS1? The problem is that this stone scores a 2.6 on the HCA. Is that OK?

Stone specs:
GIA Cut: Excellent
GIA Polish: Excellent
GIA Symmetry: Excellent
Measurements: 8.72 x 8.77 x 5.37 mm
Table: 58 %
Depth: 61.4%
Crown angle: 33.5 degrees
Pavilion angle: 41.2 degrees
Girdle: Medium to Slightly Thick
Fluorescence: Medium

My thoughts:

I would get the 2.52 with strong blue fluor and save 5k. It looks really good and it has a nice HCA score.

The WF stone is nice too, but I wouldn't pay the extra. In person with both stones, I doubt you'd be able to see any difference. You have to understand, these magnified images look huge so you notice every little thing, but side by side in person, they'll probably look sooo similar.

Hi everyone,

I think I may have found the one. 2.60 VS1 G. Hope the higher clarity will ensure it is eye clean at all angles. I ended up returning the 2.52 V2G, as the visible inclusions from the side of the stone was just bothering my girlfriend and I too much. The spread on this stone is actually slightly less than the 2.52, so it gets only a very good for spread on the HCA with an overall score of .8. Price is $38,500 wire price.

I do notice that it nicely falls in the bolded section on the H&A chart at http://www.heartsandarrows.com/hearts-arrows-diamond-ideal-cut-dna.aspx.... Does that mean this stone is a true H&A?

Stone specs:
GIA Cut: Excellent
GIA Polish: Excellent
GIA Symmetry: Excellent
Measurements: 8.82 x 8.91 x 5.44 mm
Table: 56 %
Depth: 61.3%
Crown angle: 35 degrees
Pavilion angle: 40.6 degrees
Girdle: Medium to Slightly Thick
Fluorescence: Medium

Attached is the cert.

Let me know your thoughts.

That is an incredible price for a 2.6 G VS1 ex cut! I would grab it and run! The only way to know if a stone is true hearts and arrows is to view magnified images taken through a hearts and arrows viewer. Not all ideal cut stones are H&A. You can't tell that by the numbers. Regardless, it sounds really good! Oh, and most ideal cut stones get very good on spread, so that is normal and fine.

Can I do a "say what" about the BN discount???

I just received my BN ring yesterday and I am very happy with it.

This was not purchased through Bluenile, and was a stone sourced through a local jeweler. GoodoldGold has access to it as well, but since this stone was in India, Jonathan preferred to not deal with it, as he hadn't had good experience dealing with those vendors in the past.

Not yet. Indian cutter would not provide it, so have to wait until it gets to my jeweler.
