I have been looking for a couple of weeks now, and have yet to find something I really like. I found a picture from another post several years back that I think is gorgeous. If someone can help me find a diamond like that and the setting that would be wonderful.

The picture comes from this link, near the bottom of the page.

I tried to post a picture, but not sure it will work.

I am also having really hard time distinguishing how to judge a diamond from a picture. I am not able to see what is good and bad about a diamond. If someone has comparison pictures, good/bad that would be so helpful.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Looking for right about 1 Carat, and need to stay under $5000 total. Thank you so much.

 Sorry for the post about RBs earlier. My reading comprehension is totally off today

Here is GoG's video tutorial about cushion cuts. I've highlighted his comparison segment: http://youtu.be/1O7H8E_MYRM?t=15m5s

well cut vs. badly cut is totally apparent as you can see

Here is what you need to know about cushions:

Read this:

Here's some information to start you off:
The entire purpose of faceting a diamond is to reflect light.
How well or how poorly a diamond does this determines how beautiful it is.
How well a diamond performs is determined by the angles and cutting. This is why we say cut is king. With fancies though (anything other than a round brilliant), that is a little complicated. But no other factor: not color, not clarity has as much of an impact on the appearance of a diamond as its cut.

There really is no other way to determine if you have a good cushions is to see images of the stones, and then you need is a way to check actual light performance of your actual stone.

That's what an ASET image does. http://www.highperformancediamonds.com/index.php?page=education-performance Please read.
And ASET shows you how and wear your diamond is reflecting light, how well it is going at it, and where you are losing light return That is why you won't see us recommending vendors like Blue Nile, as they do not provide images or ASET images for their diamonds. James Allen and Good Old Gold do this. So do Brian Gavin and Whiteflash and High Performance Diamonds.

Or you can get an AGS0 cushions, but those are rare, and usually branded. . GIA does not grade their cushions for performance. Only AGS does. And any lab other than GIA or AGS is not worth considering at all.

You aren't going to get that setting or similar AND a one carat cushion for 5k without significant compromises in color.

I will look for cushions for you.

Thanks so much Gypsy :) You are a great source of information. I have read so many of your posts and continue to learn. Please let me know if you find others. A question on ASET. Does the single ASET image always represent the dynamic aspect of a moving diamond and how it flashes and sparkles? I have not looked at "I" color previously, would that be a noticeable color difference between a "G/H" stone?
