Help me find a big fat cushion please?

OMG I am soooo excited (but have some serious anxiety too) because I just wired OWD an unseemly amount of money! (Well worth it of course!).
Girl story of my life!!!
I quite like the look of it based on pictures alone. Spend lots of time with it in your normal lighting environments to see how you feel. Watch how it lights up and the on/off facet play. It’s good that you have a stone holder, that will help!

It doesn’t have to be love at first sight! Sometimes it takes a while. But it does look promising!!!

Wow! Those colors in the ring holder shots!

But I will say that I'm not exactly getting "flowery" vibes from the faceting. A little more classic, angular OMC. The nice even pillow shape is a plus!

Edit: I realized you didn't actually specify that you were looking for "flowery." For some reason I thought you did. haha. But generally, I think the faceting is nice and clean and even, but it's also not blowing me away. Can't say why...

You did specify you didn't like maltese crosses or large culets, and this has both of those things.... (I love them, but this is your stone :) heh )

and remember don’t panic! If this isn’t the one, there are many sparkly fish in the sea!

I'm inclined to think that if you don't love it now, you may well not love it in the longer term - do keep testing it out in different lighting conditions, but if it's not calling to your heart, you must set it free and keep on looking!
I’ve been playing with it all day and I’m really warming to it. I’ve had other old cut stones (transnational and OEC) but this is my first OMC and my first old cut over 2cts. I love the different personalities it has in different lighting and environments!

IKR?! The colors slay me!

The large cutlets that bother me are larger than this one. In person I don’t get a “large” vibe from it  As for the Maltese cross issues, I what I dislike is how fat the crosses are on the AVC stones. The eight facets in the AVC are not the same size which produces very wide “cross” facets.
I’m really starting to swoon over this old girl...

I'm so glad! Hard not to fall in love with pretty diamonds :) And it's a true antique, so one of a kind!

Yup she is a beauty. I mean her shape, her puffy crown, her soft glowy colors, her even light play and brightness. Some of us are more analytical and don't fall in love at first sight with anything. Heck true love takes time. That's why it's good you're spending time with her to get to know the facets (haha) of her personality. So excited for you @Keeliamira. It's like peeling an onion...revealing many different layers and you're just getting to "know" her.

So true. :kiss2:

Ach. I decided to sleep on it. I went to bed thinking about it and woke up doing the same. I’ve decided it’s lovely but I’m not over the moon about it ...and I need to be over the moon. I’m still at “like” and not “love”. The one I buy will literally be The One, not a stair step to an upgrade. So, it’s not my stone and I’m sad. :(sad

Don’t stress @Keeliamira and don’t feel sad. With time you’ll know more of what you’re looking for and when you see it you’ll know it. There’s a learning curve with old cuts and with more experience and seeing more old cuts you’ll realize what your non negotiables are and what you need in an old cut and when your dream stone comes along you’ll know.
You’re on your way. Hang in there. Half the fun is in the search. XO.

I was thinking about your previous comment over how it wasn’t love at first sight and even then I thought send it back but didn’t want to be “that person” I truly agree with you over how there will be an instant connection with the diamond. That is honestly how I felt with my marquise in person so don’t feel bad about sending it back, finding the one will take time! The looking should be the fun part
