Hello all to those who recognize me but was wondering what happened to me.

Short story: I am now getting married on fairly short notice and need help quickly finding a bezel setting with sidestones.

The long story is in Diamond Hangout at the following post as some people know:

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/an-update-for-those-wondering.171371/

Since this is a wedding on a relatively short notice and I am busy trying to do a hundred different things for my Fiancee (Princess Z), and I would like some help in finding available settings.

Princess Z has requested a ring with low set stones so she can put her hand safely into her pocket without snagging the stone. She liked the concept of a bezel setting when I showed her one; but wants side stones too (bezel set - or perhaps channel set).

She does not wish a large center stone.

She also would like a matching wedding band with small set stones.

I know how great many people are on this site on finding things: So please show me the options you know about or can quickly find beyond the simple plain single set bezel setting.

Thanks much,

Perry

Hi Perry and welcome back!

HI:

Perry, please define large--you know it is a relative term. Centre stone--colored stone or diamond? Shape of stone...stones.... Single stone? Three, five, seven or nine stone ring? Diamond band and wedding band? ER and plain band? Does she have any pictures?

Sorry I know it is a lot of decisions--but hey :appl:

cheers--Sharon

Thanks Sparkly...

In this case Princess Z is not interested in anything probably larger than 3/4 carat for the center stone (and would be satisfied with something smaller as long as its nice looking). She is from the Ukraine where they do not have the custom of wedding rings. Shape of center stone and side stones probably does not matter. She has not spent much time looking at rings or stone shape at all. She likes the idea of getting a ring - and her new friends in English as a 2nd Language Class tell her that its the thing to do. She has seen enough pictures to know that she likes side stones. She has also said she wants a wedding band with little stones in it (at least part of the way arround the ring). I want something distinct if possible. Of course I want (and I am sure she will appreciate) high quality workmanship as well. Princess Z loves art museums - and does have an eye for high quality workmanship.

If you recall I have a matched pair of 1/4 carat stones that was inteneded for "D" in 2004. NIce if I could use them in the ring - but not necessary.

LIfe can be fun if you make it so,

Perry

Hi

I saw this vintage style on Leigh Jay Nacht's site. I can't find the actual ring now but I saved a picture and I think it's lovely!

You mention "short notice" .... a lot of settings take 4-6 weeks to make unless you buy an already in stock setting & have that sized to fit -- and even then it can take some time. Can you give us a budget & timetable to work with?

IMO, this is absolutely perfect, given your description of what you wanted. It is gorgeous!

I love that one!

I found a few more if you want to get colored stones involved-this one is darling and has sapphires!

Now I can't tell if the bezels are wonky in this or if it's the photographer stills but it's pretty and similar to the one above

This is a beautiful ring from GOG-princess cut (.7 AGS ideal cut) in a beautiful bezel halo)

Another beautiful style princess cut with side stones all bezel set-although I'm not loving the cut of the princess stone on this one-seems off to me.

An Update:

I contacted Cross Jewelers on the ring pictured above. They do have it currently available in gold in two sizes (they actually now have 3 sizes), and they can make anything in 4 weeks or less as this setting is in routine prodution for their store as the same setting is sold both unengraved and engraved (and he thought that some Platinum settings were already in process).

However, when we discussed diamond quality we hit an impass. I had read their description on the website, and I talked with the jeweler. Cross Jewelers was not willing to sell the setting without stones, nor willing to allow me to supply stones - even if they were very high quality stones. They select stones for their "look" and that is all that is available from them. They are not interested in selling a ring with a different look. The jeweler had never heard of an Ideal Scope, had heard of ASET - but did not have one.

After studying the pictures of the diamonds in the rings on his site I passed (hint - look at the center stone on the ring pictured above. A lot of other rings on the Cross Jeweler site have pictures that are fairly distinct on light reflection pattern).

So I am off to plan B.

Have a great day,

Perry

So they pick the center stone as well?

Yes. That way they can ensure that the entire ring and center stone matches their "classic look"

Deal breaker for me too, I have to say. I guess you can call fish eye a "classic look", I don't know if it's one to strive for though. Hmm. Interesting dilemma. I'd call Julian at Pearlmans if it were me. Send him a pic of the Cross ring and ask him if he knows of anything similar, and explain the problem and tell him you just want PS quality well cut stones. At the same time, I'd call Yekutiel and see what he can suggest as well. Both vendors carry many lines and the lines they carry do not overlap, so you would be pretty much covered and likely to get a few nice suggestions.

That's where I'd start.

See if these people will sell you the mount without the stones. Then send to any PS vendor and have them pull stones for it. http://www.custombridalrings.com/products/14K-Two-Tone-or-White-Round-Bezel-Engagement-Ring.html

Nice hearing from you, Gypsy.

Yes, after looking at the pictures of an assortment of diamond rings on their website I have to admit that Cross Jewelers does have a fairly uniform "Classic Look;" and since only about 5% of diamonds are really at or very near ideal light return that the Cross Jewelers description makes sense.

Plan B is well underway - and I am awaiting final pricing. I will post pictures when I have them. I suspect that no one will be disappointed with either my ring or the qualities of my diamond from a light return perspective (although some people perfer other shapes, color, clarity, etc).

Love, Laugh, and Live Life,

Perry

Perry, I just wanted to say congratulations and I know whatever you decide is going to be wonderful!!
