I've been a long-time lurker and now I need everyone's help! I've been looking for princess cut diamonds - in the $7500 price range. here are two that ive found, and i'd like everyone's expert opinions before making a decision. im definitely not limited to picking one or the other, so if both are not as great as i could get for the price, please let me know.

i've attached the gia certs for the two diamonds:

#1: 1.18 c weight, $8k
#2: 1.11 c weight, $7k

Thanks in advance!

ASET images?

If no, then not enough information for the cut performance as GIA does not grade cut performance of a princess.

How does a thick/thin girdle affect reflection of light / brilliance / etc.?

It is graded AGS0 in light performance, so no effect.

Thick girdle means probably has a smaller face up dimension then similar weight stone cut to similar proportions but with a medium girdle.

You sure you are a long time lurker?

I think if I was going to spend that much on a princess cut I would want an AGSO

WF has a big selection right now but here is one

http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-2568620.htm

They have an excellent tradin in policy

http://www.whiteflash.com/about-diamonds/faq/lifetime-upgrade.htm#aca_es

They are also running a special right now if you buy a ACA princess you get 10% off any setting

I think this is a beautiful setting for princess cuts

Stone makes excellent observations and truly knows his stuff, though lately he hasn't been so friendly ;)) so pay no attention to the man behind the curtain! ;-) I agree that you can probably find a comparable stone for less money, the one that Stone picked from JA looks nice and farmgal picked an amazing setting for a princess cut! :lickout:

That's alright buying a diamond can make anyone's brain fuzzy. Princess cuts are tricky I think compared to rounds. Everyone would be happy to give you advice, that is what we are here for :appl:

What did you think of the WF ACA?

Thanks all for the suggestions and advice - sorry - I got caught up in work there for a few hours.

I really like what Whiteflash has to offer...

This one, for example, seems like a good diamond with a discount for being on the wrong side of 1.0c. I do not see any inclusions - and it is an AGS 0. WHat do you all think of it? Is the table % too low?
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-2605280.htm

And what about this?
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-2605284.htm

Why are the above so low compared to the others? Anything I'm missing aside from the diamond not being above 1.0 c?

Which look do you prefer? The .97 has 3 chevrons, the .98 has 2 chevrons -gives each stone a different personality.

Table sizes are fine for both.

thanks for pointing that out. is one "better" than the other in terms of brilliance, light reflection, etc.

Personal preference. Both look nice but prefer the 0.974 stone in this case.

I agree I like the .97 too and you won't be able to tell that it 's under a ct, it's going to face up very nice.

What about the girlde being so thin though? Should that be a concern?

I would ask if both are eye-clean (to your standards). they both look really nice but I think I might pick the 0.984. but I don't think you can go wrong!
